frankybaby43
Married to a Thai wife and we have a Thai son going to school presently on a retirement visa what would be the advantage to get a guardian visa instead ?
ubonjoe
A guardian visa does not exist. If you were not married you could apply for an extension based upon being the parent of a Thai. You could apply for an extension based upon marriage and only need 400k baht in the bank or 40k baht income. The financial requirement are the same for an extension as a parent of a Thai. There is a clause that allows the parent of a foreign child attending school to get an extension that requires 500k baht in the bank.

Can I ask what paperwork is required for an Extension based on being a parent of a THai

Letter from the bank to confirm the 400k baht and your bank book or a income letter to prove the 40k baht income. You would need proof your child is living with you. You would need their birth certificate plus a copy and a copy of their house book registry. Photos you and your child in and around the house and a map to your house. The required documents and etc vary from office to office so you would need to contact your local office to find out what was needed.
