Own 10 Rai in SaKaeo... no chanote...

Featured Replies

Now wife worried that government may be taking land.  We are overseas... i hate to rush to send her back but apparentlythe government is moving toward assigning chanotes in this area and have started posting that people nearby have to come in claim their land...or something like that.  Wife worried they will take her land...but not sure if she will have to fly back.  Does this sound familiar to anyone?

Thanks

10 rai is a lot of land to just give up. Yes government is taking back encroached forest land.  There are various types of land that don't have chanotes (title deeds). If your wife is worried about it why not have a relative check it out for her or just put her on a plane to check out herself.

Hey, I'm in sakaeo and my mother in law recently had to go to the land office to re-register the land they have. They have had it for over 20years but this needed to be redone

A flight back to secure 10 Rai of land doesn't sound like a big deal?

Yes my wife has same issue Up country   Government has already claimed 50%the  land back  due to someone sold it Illegally & as they are the legal owners without chanote The people who the land was originally assigned to can legally claim it back,

How can you own 10 rai of land in Thailand?

1. You are not a Thai person.

2.  The land you said you have has NO CHANOTES... so why would you or anyone buy such land... how was it registered and measured etc?

1.  The posts are about (Thai) wives.

2.  Educate yourself.  http://www.thailand-lawyer.com/land-title-deeds.html

Ask her to check with relatives or neighbors other than that call the district office.

So they are issuing deeds for non deed ed lands...and you DON'T want her coming back? You don't want your land to get a title deed?

What is the land currently? Sor kor 1? Tor bor 5? Sor por gor?

KK is a popular and growing area. Chanot there will be worth something.

Nice way to lose the land - possibly.

Sounds legitimate.  If your wife did not have RED chanote, this kind of thing happens at some point.  Being there in person is the very best way to ensure her interests are represented.  Relatives, bordering land owners, could make a claim.

This problem may happened in the past 30 years ago and more  , Land Dept allowed real owners to register or make  claim.  It will take times to prove  by Gov,  and they will issue real Chanote to your wife.  Similar case ; people at La Wai beach made claims to Thai Gov at this moment.  And recent news said that people at La Wai beach may get real Chanote soon.
