My 90 Day Max Is Ending Soon -- Small Problem

Featured Replies

Okay,

I know that there have been many posts regarding the whole visa issue and that new 90 day rule. I am pretty sure that I have a good understanding of the process but I have one question.

My visa expires on Jan 7 2007 and I can no longer do bisa runs as I have already completed my 3 that are allowed.

My problem is I have purchased a plane ticket to return to Canada on Jan 20 2007 I thought that you could do a 15 day extension for 1900 Baht but apparently it is only for 7 days now.

What can I do?????

Basically I got the plane ticket on the 20th because it was about 27000 Baht cheaper, after taxes.

is there any way to extend my visa the 13 days that I need????

Please advise

You could take a chance and plead your case.

Or you could get on a plane/train/bus to somewhere and obtain a tourist visa that will allow you to return for 60 days. I would do this now rather than waiting any longer and there is going to be a mad rush very soon.

Your understanding is incorrect. There is no regulation allowing 3. You are allowed 90 days. Calculate exactly how many days you have stayed. If you left early on any of your visa runs, you may have some extra days up your sleeve.

Even in your worst case scenario and you manage a 7 day extension, you are only 6 days short. That would amount to an overstay fine of 6 x 500 = 3000 baht. A lot cheaper than doing a visa run in order to obtain a tourist visa.

Your best solution would be to take Lopburi's advice and head down to the Immigration office with your ticket and explain that you need 13 days. You don't have to wait until your 30 days expire to try for your extension, you can do that now.
