Military junta to leave the police to probe online death threat against DPM Prawit

 

 

BANGKOK: -- Spokesman of the military junta said the online death threat against deputy prime minister and defence minister is under probe by the military but the police will be directly in charge.

 

Col Winthai Suvaree, spokesman for the National Council for Peace and Order, disclosed after the deputy prime minister and defence minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan revealed yesterday that someone made threats to assassinate him on social media.

 

The spokesman said the military has conducted preliminary investigation into the online threat but declined to elaborate.

 

But he said the military would leave the investigation to the police who have their direct duties to do the job.

 

However he assured the military is capable of giving protection to significant ministers in this government.

 

Earlier Army commander-in-chief Gen Chalermchai Sittisat said online threat against the deputy prime minister could be a real assassination plot.

 

He said strict security arrangements are already in place to protect important government figures.

 

The army chief also disclosed that Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha as well as Gen Prawit have already ordered probes into the matter.

 

As to unconfirmed reports that assassination threats against Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha have also been posted on social media, the army chief said that security personnel  are investigating the matter.

Looking at him I wouldn't be surprised if nature did it before any hit man got the chance.

Anyone with a grievance might want to pencil him in for a wednesday workout with his other horrible chums.. Sure that'll speed things along yet more

That may be so, but if I were Prawit I wouldn't be too impressed with this news !!!

 

Anyone but the police - even the Thai Journalists Association would have a better chance. 

You know it must be really serious if the Military leaves it to the police to investigate.

 

Why would anyone want to kill this fine honest chap? Quote from the famous English newspaper by Prawit. "On the  military's weapons procurement he said they were transparent and had strictly followed procedure" unquote.

It smells that way. But the real question is "why" and now? Is there another flip-flop waiting to drop? Seems like it's just time for a quickie purge of enemies and a clampdown on computer crimes, just to keep the pesky masses on their back-foot.

 

Or it could just be that one thing: fear, fear and paranoia, OK it could be those two things: fear, paranoia and an almost fanatical devotion to the ,,,OK it could be those three things....

An on line threat?. Imagine how fast they would retreat if ever up against a real threat.

Come to think of it , why would you advertise your intentions, just a thought, more like a deliberate attempt to put the wind up Pawtwits ar!!se...............................

"Why would any one want to assassinate him?"

"Surely they mean Prayuth, but why bother, he's just a big puppet"

 

Assassination isn't going to solve anything in Thailand presently. Neither is a coup. The people are bored beyond belief with politics. Just don't interrupt our soup operas and we're happy.

The RTP will need a reward before they get off their fat asses. Who would ever put up a reward for this man?

Leaving it to the RTP suggests that somebody wants him gone, I wonder who?

Soup operas...There's an idea. Let's go with that. I bet Prawtit, or whatever his name is, likes soup.

Another reason to block online media access. If the threat was by a Thai criminal, not to worry they'll either mess it up or 'hand themselves in' when asked to do so. If outsider...hmmm that's not quite the same.
