BANGKOK, 6 February 2017 (NNT) – The Prime Minister has affirmed the work of the Internal Security Operations Command (ISOC) is according to the government’s reform plan and is not redundant with the responsibilities of other agencies.

Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha has chaired a meeting to conclude the work of ISOC in 2016, hearing a report on the command’s achievements in the year.

Gen Prayut, as director of ISOC, thank its members for their dedication and work and especially commended the body for its close care of the nation. He ordered the command to draft plans according to the government’s 36 areas of reform and its 20 year national development, taking care not to overlap its work with other agencies. One realm the PM adamantly pressed ISOC on was corruption eradication, instructing the command to work closely with other offices and to provide him with regular reports.

Touching on the matter of a possible reduction in punishment for those caught engaged in bribery, the premier said the issue is still only being studied at this time while assuring its conclusion would not be amnesty for offenders.
