Thailand's Treasury Reserves Down by 85% Should we be worried?

Featured Replies

There is a lot of buzz this morning and now in the evenning on the various thai news networks about thailand's Treasury Reserves being down by 85% from the pre-coup period . Also, some more news that the current levels are even lower. What does this mean and what are the implications. Should we be worried. What currency is best to keep our savings in? Please advice anybody out there.I am not very good in the financial and economic arena.

Nothing in the news as of yet.

Thanks, did not check the khaosod but did check the bangkokpost but did not find it.

Wonder if its true about the reserves being used to pay loans (good reason) or that they just overspend (bad reason). But low foreign reserves would be good for us that rely on money from out of Thailand.

I hope this doesn't into another thread about shorting, longing and hedging. The last one was so exciting I could barely contain myself.(not)

most of the money is in private hands anyway,      what is shown is just on paper
