Private sector believes Thai economy will expand by 3.5-4%

BANGKOK, 8 February 2017 (NNT) - The private sector has predicted that the Thai economy will grow by 3.5-4% due to positive factors from the global economy, investment promotion in the country and consumer confidence.

The Joint Standing Committee on Commerce, Industry and Banking met on Tuesday to consider directions of the Thai economy this year. The committee said the improving economy in many countries would result in a continuous increase in Thai exports. The committee therefore predicted that this year's Thai export sector would expand by 1-3%.

Other positive factors for the economy include the increasing number of tourists, improving consumer confidence and the government's increasing spending budget worth 190 billion baht for 2017. The budget will be disbursed from February onwards.
