BANGKOK: -- The Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) has ordered the freezing of 12 items of assets belonging to Natthapol Narkkham, alias Boy, who was suspected to be connected to alleged Laotian drug kingpin Xaysana Kaeopimpa who is being held in police custody on drug charges.

Pol Maj-Gen Pornchai Charoenwong, deputy commissioner of Metropolitan Anti-Narcotics Bureau, said Thursday that among the 12 items of assets to be frozen included a Lamborghini, one big bike and a Toyota Fortuner.

Meanwhile, Pol Maj-Gen Chatri Paisarnsilp, another deputy commissioner of MNB, said that initial interrogation of a car dealer, Natthawat “Aek Bruno” Huangmanee, and investigation did not reveal any wrongdoings in car sale transactions.

He, however, said that police would summon Akkarakit “Benz Racing” Worarotecharoendet, another car dealer, for additional interrogation next Wednesday or Thursday regarding the sale transaction of the Lamborghini in his possession.

BANGKOK: -- THE NARCOTICS Control Board has seized 12 assets connected to an alleged accomplice of Xaysana Keopimpha.

Police arrested Xaysana at Suvarnabhumi Airport on January 19, believing him to be a major drug kingpin from Laos, after an intense investigation into his alleged network in Thailand.

Thai national Nattapon Nakkam was also arrested earlier this month due to his connection with Xaysana.

“Among his frozen assets are a Lamborghini, a Toyota Fortuner, big bikes and more. We have to check if they are ill-gotten gains from the drug trade,” Narcotics Suppression Bureau (NSB)’s deputy chief Pol Maj-General Pornchai Charoenwong said yesterday.

Nattapon has told police he bought the Lamborghini under the name of famous motorcycle racer Akarakit “Benz Racing” Worarojcharoendet.

Anyone with a stupid nickname must be shaking in their shoes right now  . . .

Sometime into the future there are going to be some great car bargains for a few "connected" people.

Hard to imagine there are still big brass cops and untouchables without Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes and Jaguar in their car park. Well, it's probably more a matter of demand and creation of supply.

Sometime into the future there are going to be some great car bargains for a few "connected" people.

I do sometimes, in my cynical moments, wonder whether these "assets" are somehow "seized to order".
