BANGKOK: -- THE JUSTICE Ministry will request that the Office of the Attorney-General (OAG) seek bilateral cooperation with its counterparts in the UK and the US regarding a criminal investigation into the Rolls-Royce bribery cases involving officials of Thai Airways International (THAI) and PTT plc.

Justice Minister Suwanphan Tanyuvardhana said the OAG was empowered to seek evidence in the cases from both countries under bilateral cooperation agreements so that Thai anti-graft authorities could use the evidence to pursue legal actions against bribe recipients.

There are five bribery and corruption cases under consideration by the OAG, Suwanphan said, adding that the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) had reported that there was already preliminary evidence in which Thai officials were mentioned as receiving multi-million-baht bribes in return for deals in which THAI purchased Rolls-Royce aircraft engines from the early 1990s to 2006.

"He added that the NACC had already assigned a subcommittee to investigate the Rolls-Royce case involving the airline."

If there is a subcommittee, we feel more confident now! :coffee1:

Talking of "subcommittees", perhaps they could also investigate whose pockets will be lined by the purchase of submarines.

Suspect they're "pushing" with a rope.

Really no need to investigate these five corruption cases as they don't involve political opponents, and likely involve "good people". So, better to slow roll these "investigations", and let the Statute of Limitations run its' course.

Where does the US fit into this?

They really must be seen to be concerned, when in fact they want this to go away......

I question whether the authorities in the US and the UK, have been seriously contacted by the Thais...all smoke and mirrors.

So where will it endTIT

They must have  overlooked some of the family on the orginaL committee payroll so the sub will be similar to a bib inactive post, with pay of course. The only thing they need to do is get a copy of rolls-royce bribe payments, amount, who to and bank records of who recieved any part of it.

If Thailand was as effecient at honest government as they are effecient at ignoring crooks, druggers, hi-so,  corruption, etc, they would be near top of the best world class countries. Instead they remind me of the fellow firing his weapon prior to the turkey shoot, and when asked by others, what he was shooting at? his response ''nothing''

The engines were part of the purchase of US-made Boeing 777-200 which takes either a GE or RR engine.

And the tanks and the combat aircraft.

How much longer will this charade go on for? Justice Minister can keep on asking for names etc. for as long as takes for the issue to die. Obviously someone else higher up has sought (demanded) the co-operation of  Rolls-Royce NOT to divulge any information if they want to continue selling their aircraft engines in Thailand. This practice is not uncommon in Asian countries if leader feel threaten or embarrassed when important people get caught with their hand/s in the cookie jar. Security is usually given as the excuse for the secrecy.

Please stand in line. Still have the GT2000 and the blimp to investigate.
