Went to Korat Immigration to get my visa based on retirement renewed for the 10th year and asked about the 10 year visa. The lady who did my renewal said they are still waiting for paperwork and instructions from higher up the chain of command and no estimate when they would get instructions. Maybe next year when I do my 11th renewal.

No nothing new. Copies of every page in your passport with a stamp on it, TM7, I had income statement from embassy, copy of wife's id card (front & back) and copy of house book. There are 2 addition forms in Thai to be filled out when you get there. I got there at 8:30 when they opened and was out by 9.

Did they give a reason why they wanted a copy your wife's ID card ?

Well they need a proof of residence and since my name is not in the house book I guess they wanted a copy of her ID card as her last name is the same as mine. My best guess as I didn't ask. If you have a yellow book with your name in it I would guess that would do as a proof of residency or if you are renting I heard you need a copy of your rental agreement and a copy of the owners ID card. I don't want to upset the apple cart so I just roll with the punches.

I think you are right.

I asked because I have the same situation (although not married) and I object to the 'missus' having to be involved on a retirement extension.

I have several things with my address on (including the British embassy income letter!) but they still seek the comfort of having a signed copy of the missus' ID card.. This was the situation with Surin immigration and I expect it to be the same with Buriram immigration this year.

I believe most Immigration offices like to file details of a Thai contact to your record, whether that be wife, or landlord.

They recheck the details every year during extensions.

I've witnessed them catching a few out, who haven't notified a change of address between extensions.

(Thai landlords documents different that last years).

Many years of retirement extensions in BKK with consulate income letters. Usually take my wife with me.

But thus far, they've never asked for any docs from my wife and never asked for copies of our house rental agreement or landlord ID.

I usually bring the latter two just as a precaution. But never yet had to take them out of the folder. Have lived at the same address all my years here, though, so presumably they have a huge pile of 90 day reports reflecting my address.

Ditto for my 7 or 8 retirement extensions of stay so far....except I don't take the wife along....just go by myself.   Bangkok/Chiang Wattana Immigration has never asked me for any extra docs regarding income, address, marriage, etc.    I always take along some extra stuff like a recent bill showing my address, my Yellow Book, annuity statements supporting my income, etc., but I've never been asked for any of those.

Each Immigration office has there own procedures. I am talking about Korat Immigration office. I use to live in Pattaya and they never asked for proof of address.
