Non O in Laos and then Retirement extension

So after being in Thailand since July 2016 on an METV. I am now back in the UK as from a few days ago. I am now applying for a SETV by post at the London Embassy and will then need to convert this to a non 0 in Laos.

I had 800000 in a Thai bank but hastily transferred it back to the UK. I plan on doing things above board and having the money in a Thai bank account and not using an agent.

What do I need to apply for the non 0 in Laos ? Does the money need to be in my Thai bank account when I apply and does it have to be in there for 2 months before ? Do I need proof of accommodation ? If so what ? I had been living with my girlfriend at her home in Udon but now she has rented a condo in Pattaya in her name.

Under what condition are you applying for a non-o? It do3snt seem you are married or have dependents or anything that would make you eligible for one.

I take it its retirement that you qualify for a NON-O visa

The money has to be in a Thai account for 2 months before they will issue you the NON-O

You could just get a single entry tourist visa if you anticipate having the 800k baht in the bank within 90 days of your arrival.

To apply for a non-o visa in Vientiane Laos the money only needs to be in the bank on the date you apply (60 days is not required). No proof of residence would be needed.

You could also apply for a change of visa status at Jomtien  immigration to obtain a 90 day non immigrant visa (category O) entry. Again the money would only need to be in the bank on the date you apply but you would need at least 15 days remaining on the 60 day entry from the tourist visa or the 30 day extension of it.

If your girl friend has a rental agreement for the condo she could write a statement you are living with her to prove your residence. She would need to attach a copy of  her ID card and house book registry.

I have sent my passport off to London for a single entry tourist visa  and am hoping it will be issued as I have only been back in the UK for a few days after spending all but 2 weeks in Thailand since the beginning of July 2016 on a METV.

I will be 50 mid March and would like to convert my tourist visa to a non O as soon as possible. I did not realise I could convert to this at Jomtien. This would be far easier and cheaper than going to Laos.

My girlfriend has a rental agreement for the place and has a contract. What is an hours book registry.

No problem to get the single entry tourist visa. They would of even issued another METV if you wanted one.

You mention the house book registry, do you mean my girlfriends tabien baan or the condo owners ?. I spoke with her and she says it is in Udon as it has to stay at the house.

We return to Udon in April and am not sure if I can convert the tourist visa to a non immigrant at Udon ? I would prefer to do it in Pattaya as soon as possible but am unsure if I would have correct documents without the tabien baan.

Udon immigration cannot do the change to a non immigrant visa.

Unfortunately we will not be able to get the girlfriends house book registry copies as it is locked away in the house in Udon. I will have to go with the original plan of going to Laos,Vientienne for the non immigrant visa.

Could you please confirm what I would need to take with me to obtain a non Immigrant visa from Laos.

I suggest she go to a Amphoe and ask for a print out of her house book registry. She should be able to get one by showing her ID card. Immigration will accept that in lieu of a copy of the house book.

Another option you have is to apply for the change of visa status in Bangkok by showing your address in Udon. Do not make any mention of staying in Pattaya. They are lot friendlier about issuing the visa than Jomtien.

You want signed copies of your landlords ID card and Tabien Baan for the address your staying.

You may also have to file a TM30 on your first visit to Immigration.

So if I apply for the change of visa status in Bangkok will I need to have the original house book registry (tabien baan) of my girlfriend or will the print out that you mentioned be ok?  As we will be in Pattaya for a month before we return to living in Udon where is the Amphoe that you mention to get a print out of the house book registry?

I think I will apply for the change of visa at Bangkok. I have read on the Immigration website that I will need to fill out a TN86 form for change of status and photo copies of my passport personal information page,last entry stamp,visa sticker and departure card. All copies signed.

It also states a guarantee letter from the bank and copies of all transactions and evidence of foreign transfer of 800000 baht.

Along with this a fee of 2000 baht.

I can not see that they are asking for proof of address other than signing the application form with the Thai address that I will be staying at.

Also which address should I go to. I see there are a few. There is 18th floor Cham Churi Square Building.Phayathai Road,Pathumwan and there is the B Building,floor 2  (south zone) Chaengwattana Road (soi7). Laski.

Immigration never wants to see the original house book. A copy of the printout will be accepted.

You are correct, they are now enforcing two additional rules at Vientiane.

What you posted looks a lot like what they have posted on the their website for a OA visa without the Laotian script.
