PATTAYA: -- Police in Pattaya have announced the arrest of an Algerian man who was caught stealing from several hotels in the resort.

But claims made on Facebook suggest he had already been in jail and was let out to continue with his crimes.

Rao Rak Pattaya (We Love Pattaya) page reported the arrest of 44 year old Nadir Latmir.

His modus operandi was to sneak behind the counter at hotels and steal keys before going to guests' rooms to remove property.

He had done this six times at least at various hotels, police said.

The Facebook page showed pictures of the man being pointed at by several women and showed what appeared to be the thief's arrest in a room while wearing a top and yellow underpants.

While several posters on the site praised the Pattaya police for solving the case one man, "Duidui Suradui" said that he had met the man when he went visiting a friend in prison. He said that Nadir had hitched a lift back to Pattaya with him after he had been released from jail and then tried to borrow 200 baht from him when they reached South Pattaya saying he had no money.

Another poster Mae Mae said that if foreigners were caught stealing in Thailand they should be thrown out of the country not allowed out to do it all over again.

Rao Rak Pattaya made no comment about previous offences.

I agree, deport them, let immigrqation police cancel any visa or waiver and get rid of them.

And Mae Mae, what do we do with the majority of thieves who happen to be local but soon back on  streets?

Some will never learn. I'm referring to authorities, btw

I wonder how he managed to keep his (work) visa

Be fair. How else will he get money for the brown envelopes he now has to fill? :whistling:

it is why it is so important to wear some sort of designer underwear, like Calvin Klein when you are in Pattaya.
