Nine people flee U.S. border patrol to seek asylum in Canada

Asylum, eh?  That's funny.  Basis for the claim?  "Nobody cares about us".   Love to hear the details at how traumatized they were in war torn Delaware.

Take a hint from Australia and announce a strict policy straight away.  Illegal entries to Canada will be quarantined in the Arctic Circle while their case is reviewed.

I'm proud to be from one of the remaining true democracies of the World that has compassion for our fellow man especially those no longer welcome in Trump's America. These people will gladly take jobs that nobody else wants and soon will be contributing forces to the economy.

:cheesy::cheesy::cheesy: You'll find out shortly.

As the Sudanese  have entered Canada via the US one would assume they had all been thoroughly vetted and are genuine refugees. In addition many refugees (most?) from the Sudan are Christian as well as from tribal non Muslim culture.

It's reassuring to find at least one voice of reason here among the spew of hatred, racism, paranoia, politics, various phobias, uninformed assumptions, illogical conclusions and positions that are clearly not supported by the Canadian government or the people of Canada who elected their government. I will choose to not engage in the many arguments posted and simply want to assure like-minded folk that not everyone condemns the refugees and there are still people who believe in humanitarianism for our World.

One should assume nothing about vetting or religious beliefs and affiliations.  One could, however, think that for such gentile, pre-vetted christian people, they would of been thankful to the country that took them in, as well as the one they are now taking the piss out of, entering illegally and claiming "asylum".   Asylum.  From Delaware, USA.  Pullll-eaze.

You believe in humanitarianism and that's fantastic.  Many others do as well, and many of them also engage in similar, worthless virtue signaling on social media.  Always nice when they are filthy rich, living in mansions in a snow white neighborhood, demanding the government push more immigrants into other peoples' neighborhoods..... and have them pay for it.  :sick:

And the ability to build a wall... lets not forget the wall.

And.... the highway department should prominently display arrows pointing the way to Canada as well.

And.... maybe those state information centers ( on the highways passing from state to state) can start handing out recommended routes north with easy crossing points

And.... perhaps the government can secretly fund an new "Underground Railroad" to help move the refugees north.

"underground railroad", thats so 1850's, try Uber Coyote for 2017.

Another off-topic, one off type of incident of which we will never ever get rid of no matter how many people are banned.   It's like the all the jobs he is keeping in the US.   These are jobs that wouldn't have left anyway.

It's sadder than sad that people who are in the US legally have to flee to Canada for no criminal activity.

It's nice to know that Canada will take them.

I don't think they would run if they were in the USA legally. Depends on what you consider legal I suppose. If they had permanent status no need to run, if they were in the USA seeking asylum and very likely to be rejected that is a reason to run.

The fun part with this is Canada is in some ways harder to get into than the USA. I can guarantee you they have accepted less refugees than the USA ever has. The kicker is it is standard practice to deport somebody back to their country of origin. So when Canada does deport these people they intentionally put themselves in a position of having no other option than being returned to what they were trying to escape.

Anybody that afraid should simply bide their time and keep a low profile. The risk of crossing an international border illegally when you already had safe haven is pretty stupid. Also this act alone will constitute a criminal offense on either side of the border and probably make deportation mandatory and not discretionary. If you want asylum it is better to not commit a felony for obvious reasons. Canada refuse entry to felons as a matter of course.
