Yes! They choose 2 in Pattaya out of the reason that they concentrate on cleaning up the world biggest sex industry. According to me the police here do the right thing. Why continue bashing them?

Strange to find a repressed farang here. Wouldn't Saudi be more to your taste?

why in gods name would any human other than Russians go to pattaya

Insulting all residents over here like this is going a it too far but i doubt there is a way to have a  meaningful discussion with such a narrow mindset. We can meet and argue over it if you are not too scared to loose your face,if that is possible at all.We also offer group therapies driving you around town  and introduce you to the real world .That might help.

You can never cleanup Pattaya. It's the kind of tourists that go there, the lowlife trash that lives there, including, of course, all the criminals that make it the dreadful place that it is .

I resemble that remark!

Guys that don't have sex, can't have sex, no money no honey despise Pattaya.

I'm having a ball, the ultimate adult playground!

I came to Pattaya as I could rent a nicer house here than Sriracha (for the allowance from my employer).

The cheap sex was a bonus !!

I believe that explicit/hardcore "displays" are (theoretically) not allowed in go-go bars.

I can think of one bar where the performance is somewhat "tongue in cheek" (they never, to my knowledge, have any problems).  I can think of a couple of others however where it is frequently "tongue in ........".

Every now and then they do a sweep and rap some knuckles.

These two visitations are nothing out of the ordinary.

lets see - we have walking street and LK metro full of gogo bars - they must have missed those, then we have the infamous seedy soi 6

Yes but Soi 7 and 8 are real close to the cop shop on Soi 9 whereas the others locations you mention are probably just a soi too far.

The RTP themselves are the biggest embarrassment in the country. They are incompetent, indifferent, and corrupt beyond imagination. And it is so obvious why nothing is done about it. This is a big dog and pony show. Nothing whatsoever is meant by it. No doubt they are focusing on the establishments that are in arrears to the collection fund. It means nothing to anybody.

There's a lot of image improvement efforts at the moment. <deleted>  Thailand into economic and political chaos, the stakes are large. You see this also in Prayuth's buying off the rebellious farmers in the North with huge rice subsides and real efforts to appease the separatists in the South (whose last bombs were for the first time in tourist areas).

You also see it with cleaning up the streets in the form of food, viagra and dildo salesmen.

Pattaya is a sort of Sodom and Gomorah-By-The-Sea, with bizarre stuff happening all the time, like the recent gang hit on the scammer Brit, and general sleaze. Not that I'm against sleaze mind you, but until Thailand is seen in the eyes of the world investment community as a safe place to put your money, we'll see a lot of "clean up"

This is all blox. This is so just a show of complete strong armed force, laced with apathy by the RTB.It will last a week/month, and then it will all go away.

Too many elites, judges, copper's mafia, have their grubby little fingers in these places.Too many City officials are involved in the massage parlours, for this to ever happen.

Rest easy guy's, stand on me, this will never happen,There will be the usual police visits, and the date and time of the next raid will be left with the owner. It will fizzle out like a wet Catherine wheel.

The same could probably be said of most police around the world. Certainly police in the US are hardly shining examples and then we have the fabled Scotland Yard in which corruption is endemic according to the police themselves:

Police files reveal 'endemic corruption' at the Met

Scotland Yard holds an astonishing 260 crates of documents on police corruption in one corner of London alone – and very few of the rogue detectives have ever been successfully prosecuted.

A review led by one of Britain's most senior police officers has unearthed a mammoth amount of intelligence spawned by Operation Tiberius, a secret police report written in 2002 that concluded there was "endemic corruption" inside the Metropolitan Police.

I would argue that the "cleanups"  are part of the reason that foreign investment is down...if they spend millions-billions of baht on a business and all of a sudden the rules are changed on a whim and retroactively enforced making the business unviable they start to look elsewhere.

silly exaggerated from someone who has never been here

Wow! Never been there??? As a person who has been living over 16 year in Thailand, I do really think that you are wrong.
Been there, seen it, tried it and still condemned it! Better shut the doors for good, close the gate or just plainly build a fence around it. Then all the adults with no moral and values regarding life, just can continue their wild spiral down to doom and mental illness all by themselfs. Now I exaggerated, but only slightly!

I don't understand. How is having sex with a cute 20 year old =no moral values?

A lot of the guys living here no longer have sex with their wives. They are in different universes and have no common ground, common interest and the spark dies within a few short years [emoji30]

Now that's what I would call no moral values.. Stuck in a shitty marriage lying to yourself and your partner but to scared to go it alone.., 50% of posters are going through it. Now this is where the downward spiral really begins!!

RENT AND ENJOY LIFE!

I rest my case [emoji3]

This poster must exist in a Pattaya I don't know off, if indeed he actually has been there!

How many people that live in Pattaya actually go to the "lowlife" areas that he refers too" seems to be difficult for some to understand that Pattaya is a big place with world class golf courses and some of the best schooling in Thailand, its also where a lot of people working on the "Eastern seaboard" live, sure that the people that hold jobs that he can only dream off, managers, Headmasters, teachers etc would be intrigued by his views of  them!

Lol.... yer.... but they can't get that right either?

Pattaya itself is not the problem. It is the so called entertainment areas that have gone way over the top and are way too visible to those who have no interest in them. It is the rip offs; the fights; the drugs and using underage workers that are also driving the crackdown.

This is not going to end like all the others because the new sheriff in town is military backed and the Junta does not like the unsavory -in your face- sex business. They are going to force it to close; move; or simply keep harassing the owners until they comply. They don't care if every Westerner leaves  Pattaya because the plan is to bring in the Chinese and mid to upper class Thais. Neither of the this group needs GoGo Bars or the sex business. The money people know what is happening and that is why there are huge investments in malls; 4-5 star Hotels and chain restaurants and pubs. The people who don't understand what is happening are the Westerners who seem to think Pattaya is not going to change. It is already changing and it will change even more. If you like the changes fine- if you don't there are other choices.

can anyone reply,  why has the police only targetted 2 gogo bars ?    did these gogos not pay tea money, not have proper licences in place.

hard to believe that government will shut down the sex industry here in pattaya / thailand,  what will all the poor uneducated farm girls do  ?   it will only lead to a burden on their own system and also a significant drop in tourism.

pattaya will allways be pattaya , the sex capital of the world.

Clean up the litter, garbage bags, and rubble along the streets would be more appreciated. A photo-opt in the local news will not change the image of Pattaya being a party-town. Improving the infrastructure and garbage would do more for its image.

cant raise any revenue from fining i dirty street. probably about the same chance of cleaning up the streets as there is of cleaning up the bars.

TAT has already started counting.

9 million single men visiting Pattya less next year are being replaced by 9 million families with kids. So all adding it together they will expect about 18 million more visitors in 2018... :cheesy::cheesy::cheesy:

All of Beach Road at one time was lined with bars that catered to the Western tourist as well as beer bars on Pattaya 2 Road. They are gone  and replaced by hotels; restaurants or shops.

Most of the goGos are either on Walking Street and Sois 6-8.  Walking Street is the real target because of the waterside areas that have been encroached upon. The occupiers have fought the ouster orders for years but their time is up. The new sheriff in town figures this is a good time to  get rid of the GoGos and overt sex on Walking Street and want to turn into more shopping;  restaurants and much more family oriented entertainment.

If you have been in Thailand a long time all of this is visible and obvious. The shift away from Pattaya is towards the Jomtien area and I predict eventually it will head to the darkside where it won't be so visible to the real tourists that Thailand wants- Chinese and middle class to upper class Thais.  Westerners bring too much trouble- they use drugs;  get drunk to the point of being obnoxious; fight with others and don't spend all that much money. So- in the Thai mind- if the changes cause less Westerners to come- let it be.

I have no mantra- I did not start the thread and am only giving my opinion based upon what I know and see happening. I have no 'skin in the game'  Whatever happens is beyond the control of anyone on this board. Some want the changes -others don't.
