Just one drug taker in the temple - the abbot, and he has a rifle too

SUPHANBURI: -- Police in Suphanburi raided a temple after the arrest of a drug dealer in the area.

 

At the temple they confronted the abbot and found he was taking Ya Ba. They also found a rifle with him, reported Thairath.

 

None of the other monks at the temple were involved - just the abbot.

 

The raid followed the arrest of Korn Reuanngern, 31, a Bang Pla Ma drug dealer known as "Mot Daeng" after the district he hailed from.

 

A raiding party of twenty officers found him in possession of 116 Ya Ba pills that he said he got from a big northern Thai dealer.

 

Expanding the enquiry the raiders went to the nearby temple of Wat Rat Burana where they searched the quarters of the abbot Phra Somboon Phromphan.

 

They found two Ya Ba pills, drug taking equipment and a rifle in his possession. He tested positive for drug use with a purple result from a urine sample.

 

Four other monks at the temple came up negative.

 

Phra Somboon was immediately taken for defrocking. Following this he became plain Nai Somboon and he admitted to buying ten Ya Ba from the dealer called Korn for 150 baht each tablet.

 

He admitted taking the drugs in his quarters.

Yes I am surprised  that he hasn't already been defrocked unlike the Catholics who have tended to move them to another location where they can start all over again.

Yes and lately many temples are related to drugs which is really not done....

And what about the rifle? Does he have a gun license?

What sort of Buddhism is this? Alms given (in exchange for lottery numbers and good luck) end up in drugs and ammo for his rifle... Would anyone dare to check his personal bank account? And what kind of temple is this anyway with only four monks and one abbot?

Well at least over here the" men in robes" are  just druggies and lady molesters and not like the "men in robes" in the western world that shag little boys and seem to enjoy immunity from the law most of the time.

I wonder what he wanted the rifle for.  Coercing the faithful to greater devotion and more generous donations?  It looks like a .22 and there seems to be a scope next to it but it could also be an air rifle or a BB gun.

Obviously u're not long enough here. Physical violence and rape are common in temples.... khrap.
