Hi,

I have a valid non-immigrant B visa for working in Thailand, but am looking to switch it to a non-immigrant O visa.  I will be moving from a paid teaching job to a volunteer program, and will not be getting paid. My current visa is valid for another 80-or-so days, and I will need the new visa beginning in May.

Any advice is appreciated!

Thank you!

Do you have a valid visa from an embassy or consulate or an extension of stay issued by immigration. For it to be a visa that would mean you just entered the country 10 days ago.

If you have an extension you could possibley change the reason for your extension from teaching to volunteer work. You would need a work permit approval letter to do the change and a termination letter from your current employer.

You may have to leave the country to get a single entry non-o visa with supporting documents form the organization you are working with. Then get the work permit to apply for an extension. Dependent upon the organizations qualifications you may only get 90 day extensions based upon doing volunteer work.
