Changing Visa

Featured Replies

My 'Thai wife' visa is up soon and I don't have the cash in the bank. I only earn 29,500 a month.

Do you think I'll have to change to a visa based on my work?

Do you think I'll have to leave the country?

Cheers

You have a visa or an extension of stay? From mention of cash in the bank will assume an extension of stay based on 400k in bank account. Be aware if you do not have the money there will be no going back as only those in the system are allowed to use the bank deposit now.

Second option is to find employment for wife to make up the difference to provide 40k monthly income.

You can still obtain visa entry on the basis of visiting wife and can work on that visa. But you will have to go to a Consulate to obtain and believe the only chance of a multi entry is Singapore anywhere in the area.

You could also obtain non immigrant B visa with your work permit but same thing - Consulate visit and multi entry rare these days. Your income would not be enough for extension of stay for normal jobs but there are lower requirements for some occupations, such as reporters and teachers I believe so if you can meet that requirement it might be worthwhile doing so, even if you have to pay a little extra tax.
