webfact
Encroached mangrove forests by Dhammakaya Foundation to be confiscated KRABI, 24 February 2017 (NNT) - Deputy Commissioner of the Royal Thai Police Pol Gen Srivara Rangsipramanakul has ordered the seizure of Dhammakaya Foundation property developments encroaching on 80 rai of mangrove forests in Krabi province. Pol Gen Srivara paid a visit to Krabi's mangrove forests, where he inspected a three-storey building and a palm tree plantation built by the Dhammakaya Foundation. Local fishermen have been unable to make a living off the habitat's fish and crustaceans, as the areas became inaccessible. Although the Dhammakaya Foundation had lawfully received land title deeds from the Provincial Land Office, it had yet to be verified whether the issuance of these documents was transparent. Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam instructed the National Office of Buddhism to develop guidelines for temples on how to accept land and money donations. It will set the acceptable standards of practice for Buddhist temples across the country. -- nnt 2017-02-

Emster23
" Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam instructed the National Office of Buddhism to develop guidelines for temples on how to accept land and money donations." Question: does a person still "make merit" if they give something that isn't theirs to begin with?
