I was walking passed รร.ช่างฝีมือทหาร reflecting on the fact that when I first came to live here I assumed that it meant "Army tradesmen School" . Because ช่างไม้ ช่างไฟ are examples of someone skilled in manual or artistic fields, I had ช่าง as weighted towards tradesman or craftsman.

I wonder if those of us who have an English word for ช่าง feel the same way as me.

Aforek's is the official title and it seems that ช่าง means what I thought it meant, I shouldn't have questioned it.
I looked at their publicity film, it ends with a little poetry if anyone is interested.
อันชาติใดไร้ช่างชำนาญศิลป์
เหมือนนารินไร้โฉมบรรโลมสง่า
you won't find นาริน anywhere because it is นาริ modified to rhyme with ศิลป์
