My parents use a Samsung TV, I find the color on samsung TV are really saturated and too bright and light is leaking (white spot in dark scenes)

I went to Tesco and I came with a USB key to play some files. What I have found :Sony had problem to play the files , Thai cheap TV didn't have any loud sound. All brand names got problems. There is no perfect TV.

At the end, the best TV that played all files was the lg except it doesn't play dts sound.

What I like with lg was the color accuracy and the mat screen (less glossy than Samsung or sony) , it shows subtitle (big enough), and the sound is loud. Only bad thing is only one HD connector, one USB connector and the model I have purchased is not a smart TV.

Paid 12k bahts

Tesco does often have some mid (model) year and end of model year sales, on the order of 50%. Currently they also are offering 1,000 - 2,000 baht (for Tesco card holders) gift certificates.

For playback these days an Android box might solve any potential file issues, including DTS. Depending on the app. used, you may also be able to get quite a few more features: pause/restore, large capacity HDD support, NTFS, large file size, streaming over WiFi from a PC/NAS, etc?

I would probably recommend a TV with at least two (2) HDMI connections?

For 2 hdmi, is it possible with a splitter box?

You can use an HDMI switch to use more than one box with single HDMI port TV.

(a switch NOT a splitter, a splitter takes one source to two TVs)

I would always go for a TV without the "smart" bit because its more flexible to add your own  "smart box"  that can easily be updated when needed ,has the features you want  and if the TV breaks then you can just plug it into another TV or monitor

Also you can get a larger screen size for less money with a "dumb" TV

The problem with these smart TV is that the software they use is made by the tv company and maybe not always updated. Samsung use a samsung operative system. It s not Android. The only application I was really using on a smart TV is YouTube.
Another problem on a smart TV is it takes longer to switch on and off. Take longer to update the TV. I have one at my parent house, and it s a pain to type on the fake keyboard. I must use the arrow of the remote Controll to type each letter. Just a pain.

I know that lg use the remote Controll by pointing it at a keyboard on the TV screen. Like a laser. And you can select the letters. Probably faster. I didn't try.

If you want an android TV you can buy a chromecast TV that you plug on your TV. Then you should have YouTube, and the Android market. Your TV become like a tablet except you can not save files. But I think you can plug a USB memory stick and record on it.

This TV in the video(first post) is my first LG TV and after 1 month of use I really like it. At the beginning we got shocked by the size(my TV was a small Thai TV that went broke) , and we wanted to return it, but as you know Thailand is not like the USA where you can return something you don't like( no satisfied or money back here, eh there is not Wal mart here! ) . But after a few weeks of use we really like this tv and the ability to play many files from a USB stick and watch Thai box is nicer when screen is bigger.

These chromecast keys cost around 30 dollar for the older model. I have seen a new rounded model. Any feedback?

I'm using Raspberry PI 3 model B  powered by the TV's USB port so it turns on and off with the TV

Rasbmc operating system with XBMC (yes old and out of date but it works just how I like )

controlled with the TV remote and/or mobile phone app YATSE via wifixbmc simple.jpg
