Upstairs is starting to get crazy hot as there is no ventilation up there. Air con is not an option as ye walls are wood. so I am looking to install a vent/turbine/whirlybird on the pitched roof to release some heat. I realise its not going to be any where near as good as aircon but I'm hoping to bring the temp down just a few degrees. heres my question, our rental agreement says that we must ask the landlord before making any alterations to the house. So far the landlord is not even returning our calls, so I'm ready to go ahead and just install this thing already. But... My thai partner seems to think that this is grounds for me to get arrested if I go ahead and install without landlords permission, which seems completely crazy! any one been through this type of experience? what are you thoughts on this? thanks in advance Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You forfeit your entire deposit, and c: You are arrested for criminal damage, and d: You have to pay to resolve matters, or e: Your life will become extremely miserable. You cannot cut holes in the owner's property without written permission. From the owners point of view, what if you do a bad job and it leaks during the rainy season? Would you hire a car and cut a hole in the roof to fit a sunroof without permission? Can you understand that the car owner might not be happy if you did that?
