A hot-air balloon carrying eight foreign tourists over Angkor Archeological Park in northwest Cambodia made an emergency landing on Friday after it was hit by high winds, officials said.

No injuries were reported.

"The balloon made an emergency landing at 7:30 a.m. (local time) when it met strong winds," Gen. Sath Nady, police chief of Siem Reap Province, told Xinhua.

"There were no injuries to all the nine people on board, including a balloon navigator and eight foreign tourists," he said.

The balloon was operated by the Cambodia Flight Holiday International company.

A company representative confirmed the accident and said that there were no injuries.

He said that the tourists flown the balloon to see temples in the complex of Angkor Archeological Park and the balloon was about 250 meters off the ground when it was hit by strong winds.

Four of the tourists on board come from China, while the other four are from European countries.

The Angkor Archaeological Park, inscribed on the UNESCO's World Heritage List in 1992, is the kingdom's top tourist destination.

The site attracted 2.2 million foreign tourists in 2016, earning gross revenue of 62.5 million US dollars from ticket sales, according to government figures.
