Pattaya police make successful bust of drugs used for sexual activity

PATTAYA: -- On March 5th, Pattaya police successfully tracked down and confiscated a supply of drugs used for sexual activity as well as some 500,000 baht in cash.

Reports had reached police that an organized gang had been operating in the Pattaya area for some time and police had finally managed to mount enough evidence to spring a trap. They had an undercover operative contact the seller and a meeting was arranged at a restaurant to discuss a potential sale.

At the meeting, it became apparent that the seller was not a prominent figure of the gang. She had a total of 84 boxes of pills available for sale, which would cost 40,000 Baht. Police quickly altered the plan slightly and asked if they could buy a further 50 boxes of a cheaper brand, totaling 44,000.

The seller then contacted her boss, and led police right to what they were looking for.

A 43 year old Thai woman was arrested and taken down to the police station, along with the small seller, for further questioning.

As well as the sex pills, police also managed to confiscate 500,000 baht in cash, which they are confident was money made from selling the illegal drugs. Although police are happy with the arrests, they still believe there are more gang members involved and will be carrying on the investigation in an attempt to track them down and bring them to justice.

No doubt there will be a lot with deflated egos getting around Pattaya.  Some of those involved will have a stiff penalty imposed. Can see the police hardening up after this haul !

If they are so certain that there are others in this 'gang', then it would seem they sprung their trap too soon.  With these arrests and the ensuant publicity, any other gang members will scarper.

Where is the rock 'n' roll aspect in this story?

Big drugs bust by Pattaya police, then they left the police station to find other drug dealers  :cheesy:

Thanks for the tongue-in-cheek humor.  Nothing like a laugh with my morning coffee.

The can't be overly happy.  That would make them rather dim.

Are you sure that's his tongue in his cheek?

She had a total of 84 boxes of pills available for sale, which would cost 40,000 Baht. (i.e. 476 Baht per box)  Police quickly altered the plan slightly and asked if they could buy a further 50 boxes of a cheaper brand, totaling 44,000. (i.e. 880 Baht per box).  This must be Thai maths if 880 is cheaper than 476.

Maybe they meant the total cost of all drugs was 44k, so the cheaper drugs were only 4k.

The drugs look like Valium and Rohypnol on the photo. These are tranquilizers, not "sex drugs". Of course they could be used for date rape, after putting the victim asleep. But "sex drugs"?  Extremely poor reporting, as usual. The names of the drugs are not even mentioned in the article.

I heard they'd gone soft on victimless crime....

Gee, bragging about busts like this is like going to a Tesco, coming out and boasting "I bought a bag of rice in there!"

Apply sharia law for the muslim criminal......let here swallow all the tablets in one go. lol!

It's necessary to protect the profits of Government Pharmaceutical Organisation's own knock off brand Sidagra.

The author, who calls himself "Danny Boy", seems to be more obsessed by adding, substracting, dividing and multiplying small amounts of money than by doing his job as a reporter. Perhaps they should hire a student from the local high school to replace him, could not be any worse;)

Once again, the price being agreed to should have alerted the seller to the reverse scam. The typical "box" of these despicable drugs is priced at 80-100 Baht per. In addition of course, smart sellers don't hand over 500,000. Baht or have it lying around the venue. My goodness. Words escape me.

Can only just seen the limp cash there hiding behind the hard boxes ☺

Goddammit! All? The Police took it all? How am I supposed to get a hard on now?

Operation Proudly Sponsored by Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company.

That's why Pattaya Finest all look like they got a Torch in their trouser pocket.[emoji1434]

Correct.

Only some scattered boxes of (fake) Viagra and another dangerous "natural" enhancer ("Black Ant King").

Clearly to see is a big heap of "Rohypnol" (1 mg?) and "Diazepam" (Valium, 10 mg).

Damn dangerous stuff used by druggies and criminals.

What a useless report!

I hope it's not easily/legally available without prescription even in Thailand.

Those who sell that at the barstool should go behind bars.

This should tell you enough?

It is often used a date rape drug...

But in Pattaya it is common for males to to be the victims and they do not get raped, instead they get their safes cleaned out.

Since they are making great efforts to remove the sex-trade from the area I say their efforts are redundant!

Well spotted.

At least someone is on the ball, even if Pattaya one isn't. At all. Ever.
