I just came back from a trip my home country and went to imm. within 24 hrs to reconfirm my adress which is the same as stated on my last TM47 stub that is stappled in my passport. The imm. officer informed me that I needed to present a new TM47 and that that will be the procedure everytime I re-enter the country, that regulations had changed again recently.

Has anyone encountered this situation? Is this correct?

No rule has changed. You do not need to do a 90 day report until 90 days from the date you entered the country.

What office was it that told you needed to do a report.

I suspect the immigration officer was referring to a TM30, in which you should inform immigration of your arrival at a residence within 24 hours in your capacity as a 'possessor' of the property.

Discussed on many threads.

Apologies, I am referring  to the TM30, the one used to declare your residency. Of which a stub stays in your passport and that I was told at the time I did it, only a few months ago, by my agent and as read on this forum that if you left the country, when you came back, you just needed to re-confirm your same address as previously, within 24 hours, by showing your TM30 stub stapled in the passport. Stub that was used for proof of address at my entrance into the country in CNX on last friday evening.

I arrived back on Friday afternoon, late.  I submitted a TM28 and a TM30 to Chon Buri Immigration at Jomtien today (Monday).  I have gone to Cambodia, Laos, and the USA numerous times and but I have always resided at the same Thailand address.  This is the first time I have presented myself with the requested documents in a timely manner.

Monday was chosen as I believe their offices are closed during the weekend.  Previously I've filled out the TM 30 form with requested copies during my extension requests without issue.  However due to numerous reports about fines and grief I decided to report at the first possible time and I'm glad I did.

No problems, no fines just a two hour wait for my place in line in a hot, crowded small office to the left as you enter the building.  The ladies were very helpful and courteous.

The lady helping me reported that the TM28 wasn't needed and handed it back.  Unlike other reports that report that it is, it isn't in my case anyway.

I now have a TM30 receipt for when I apply for a 30 day extension.  Hopefully no worries :-).
