BANGKOK, 9 March 2017 (NNT) - The Defense Ministry has affirmed that recent meetings between the government-appointed reconciliation committee and political parties have been constructive.

Defense Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Kongcheep Tantravanich chaired a news conference to offer an update on the work progress of the committee in charge of the promotion of reconciliation.

Maj. Gen. Kongcheep said that the committee has met with five parties, including the Bhumjaithai Party, the Paradonphab Party, the Civil Peace Party, the Thai Social Democratic Party and the Pheu Thai Party.

In brief, he said that the talks have been amicable, constructive and aimed at finding solutions to conflicts in order to promote national reconciliation.

The Defense Ministry spokesman went on to say that all parties have agreed on forgiveness and to find a common ground for every side.

He added that several provincial reconciliation forums have been concurrently held and more will take place in all 76 provinces of Thailand within this week.
