A friend has asked me a question. Can the 'photoshop' software be copied from one laptop to another. I presume is the .exe (executable) file that needs to be transferred / copied.

Can this be done?

thanks

Besides being a violation of the software Terms and Conditions, EULA, etc,

Many Windows licensed-based software vendors have measures to prevent installed software from being copied and used on additional computers. And the original installer usually communicates with a Digital Rights Management server over the internet to authorize installation.

alternatively, there are 'similar' free versions of graphic manipulation software out there. Adobe isn't the only player.

If you have purchased a new Laptop and wish to transfer it over from a older one I would say the only option would be to contact the supplier setting out what you wish to do and why and ask what is the correct way to go about it.

Costs, yearly, are more than the 200 dollars mentioned in an earlier post.

No idea whether or not Affinity Designer is a good replacement for Adobe Photoshop. I'm not so familiar yet with the full rasterizing capabilities of Affinity Designer. You could give it a try. Affinity Designer can best be compared to other relevant applications such as Adobe Illustrator and CorelDraw and does a fine job for much less money  (approximately 50 dollars for a lifelong license, frequent updates included).

If you have subscription to Creative Cloud, you may have installations on 2 computers. I pay 1500 baht per month.

+1

And Adobe sometimes emails special offers that allow you to add additional computers to your existing Creative Cloud account.

I've moved my ancient but legit copy of Photoshop CS4 between multiple machines over the years. The installer no longer works (all is too old) but I have Laplink PCmover which does the job just fine.

Obviously one needs to remove the software from your old machine to stay within the licence terms :)

How well this will work with newer PS software I know not.
