If it was me, i would go for an MT-09, no questions : 

(even maybe MT-07 but you seem to want a bigger bike so)

 

MT09 :

- Overall great great performances

- Maintenance should be much cheaper than on Ducati or BMWs

- Great functions, for the price : Traction control, ABS, different ride modes

- Fair price compared to BMW and Ducati's.

- Reviews / user reviews all say it's a great nearly perfect bike for the price.

- Low weight for a 900 (191KG dry)

- Low sitting position.

 

Now it depends of what you like, naked, sports, classic style...

What you wana do with the bike, would it be more like a cafe bike or a real all day driving bike.

 

BMWs are outstanding bikes but to me it's a bad choice in Thailand, too heavy, too bulky, too pricy, maintenance would be expensive and hard.

 

Sports bikes are pointless in Thailand, can't ride on highways / tollways, low maneuverability in traffic jam, even wondering how it handles the heat if you get stuck in the traffic and / or always at low speed.

 

 

But that's just personal opinions.

Also, i just noticed if your post that you said you were a noob, and you already crahsed once with the ducati.

 

I'm not jugging, but if you are, as you say, a "noob" i would definitely not take anything bigger than a CB650F, which is already big for new drivers.

(I understand money's not really a concern and you want to please yourself, but picking up something too big for your overall experience and your experience in Thailand could be something that you'll regret for the rest of your life)

 

What is your driving experience in Thailand, what kind of bikes have you been riding and how many KMs if i may ask ?

Again, the question is not to judge you but to understand your experience / abilities, then we can talk about which bike to buy next.

Noob in terms of specs tech. Not driving.

I can race. Did a lot km in thailand over 4 years.

You mean you can drive , hope you're notracing in Pattaya

So go for a MT-09/CB650F then, anything bigger is "unusable" for daily driving in Thailand.

 

Unless you're considering to buy 2nd then i would go for a hornet 600 / 900 but they are real hard to find (with papers) and i'm not talking about maintenance / spare parts.

 

Also CB1000 / CB1300 : they look huge but they are way more maneuverable than they look like, and even if they're big bike you'r not gona end up in a wall when you throttle, they're "soft" bikes compared to their CC.

 

If you want a bike people look, you can be sure a CB1300 is the one, it's really popular around here.

Agree. I like the retro looks of the XSR900 & the new cb1100rs
