Yes you are right all trucks have fail safe brakes, if you lose the air the brakes come on and you stop dead.

Yep - strong springs hold the service brakes on, and the air pressure keeps them off - so if the air pressures fails, the service/parking brakes will come on automatically.  The main brakes can fail if the air pressure in the reservoir falls, but this should also cause the service brake to come on.  So looks like the parking brake was already faulty and then the main brakes failed as well ....... or the driver fell asleep?

Spring brakes could have been way out of adjustment, pads could've been fried, rotors could've been distorted & cracked. Everything that has to do with brakes on a commercial vehicle should be checked daily., but I'm sure they're all over inspections & maintenance here.

Or they were squeaky, so the driver oiled them.  TIT after all.

The motor cycle rider certainly had an Angel looking after him. Note the way the traffic light pole was pushed over as the crane came through. The m/Clist was lucky to stay in the narrow channel between the crane as it passed through and the traffic light pole. Tight space alright!!

Hope he bought a lottery ticket!

new underpants  might  be  more  useful
