If a mate of mine was to come visit me at my condo in Bangkok and spent a week or two on my sofa bed how would I have to go about making it legal ?

It's not illegal for someone to stay in your condo.

I assume the question is more about how the OP registers the guy staying with immigration; I would have thought the guest putting the address on the arrival card covers that though? (Assuming staying in the condo on arrival.)
