April 4, 20178 yr The United States has agreed to provide an additional $5.8 million to the Documentation Center for Cambodia to preserve Khmer Rouge-era historical records over the next 20 years. A statement from the US embassy to Cambodia yesterday said the endowment funding will help promote national peace and reconciliation through the preservation of the records at DC-Cam. Since the endowment was established in 2005, the US has provided a total of $9.8 million to DC-Cam’s operation. Polly Dunford, country director of the US Agency for International Development (USAID), said the fund will be used to boost DC-Cam’s sustainability to create a brighter future by teaching young Cambodian people about the value of learning history, preserving their culture and promoting and protecting human rights. “The endowment contribution, together with USAID’s past support, will provide the financial foundation for DC-Cam’s operations over the next 20 years,” Ms. Dunford said. DC-Cam executive director Youk Chhang told Khmer Times the US is the only country providing this kind of assistance to Cambodia. read more http://www.khmertimeskh.com/news/37192/us-gives--5-8m-to-preserve-khmer-rouge-records/ -- © Copyright Khmer Times 04/04 ThaiVisa, c'est aussi en français ThaiVisa, it's also in French
April 4, 20178 yr And if the official America would not have <deleted> around back in 1975 there would never have been any documents relating to the Khmer Rouge to be stored. Note to Cambodia - beware of the US Treasury, they want still USD 500 millions from you which you apparently got 40+ years ago; prior to get your country ransacked and genoziden by afore-mentioned Khmer Rouge which succeeded after the vacuum left behind by Uncle Sam!
