Delight
I am curious to learn from the experience of others with respect to security-or more precisely the lack of a night time security guard. My building needs a proximity card for the lift and the stairs. We also have a night time security guard. The cost of this guard equates to 4.5 Baht/m/m (small building) The committee is considering the removal of the guard as a cost reduction measure. At the same time adding 2 sets doors to the underground car park My Q Would this be regarded as a smart move or a false economy?
thairookie
Then you will need to pay protection fees.
1FinickyOne
I think that might depend on where your building is located... are there problems in your area?

Apart from the night guard getting bored and falling asleep
trogers
Wait for the epic event. Then, it would be viewed as a stupid move and false economy. Epic event = car theft

Epic event = car theft The plan is to seal off access to the carpark . This is to be achieved with the installation of double doors on the car park slope and a security door at the base of the stairs leading up from the carpark. I am confident that that part of the solution is secure I guess my real Q is do thieves actually manage to steal from condos. I am interested to hear from those who have experienced such thefts
funandsuninbangkok
But then who will tell your Thai girlfriend that you had a "guest" over while she visited family up country?

The advice has always been - don't do your business in your own backyard. Spend that few hundred bahts for a short time joint...

KittenKong
I think the point of a guard, even asleep, is that he acts as a deterrent. The same applies to a dog or an alarm. I would not be too happy about driving into a deserted car park at night here unless there was a guard around somewhere.
