Neeranam Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 When trying to hoot the usual idiot in a pick-up this morning I couldn't. All I hear is a click. I took off the front cover and the wiring is intact. Does anyone know what I can do? Where is the horn in a Mazda Astina? Cheers N N
goldfish Posted December 21, 2006 Posted December 21, 2006 If you can hear a click then it's probably the relay. Usually they are located with the fuses. Its visable as a 1 inch cube of plastic. Locate it by clicking the horn. When found pull it out and get a replacement. It is possible to open and clean the contacts, but don't bother if not sure. This is a general answer as I don't know what a mazda thingy is, but all cars have the same theory
monty Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Ouch, your car just depreciated 100% in value utterly useless without a horn... Joking aside, either the magnetic relay's contacts are burned in, or the horn itself is broken. The clicking of the relay eliminates problems with the switch and wiring from it to the relay, so it won't be very hard to find!
Neeranam Posted December 22, 2006 Author Posted December 22, 2006 Sometimes it gives a pathetic little peep. Last night it actually gave one hoot. Seems to come and go.
Tony Clifton Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 If the horn went dead in our truck, my wife would actually be relieved that I can't use it anymore.
