The most important thing that most western embassies look for when issuing visas to Thai Citizens is a "reason for returning to Thailand."

It would help tremendously if she owns some property here in Thailand. Do you have a job to go to in the UK? If yes then your employer can write a letter supporting her entry. Does she have a full time job here in Thailand, this will also help.

She will probably require an interview with the embassy staff as part of the application, this can be serveral weeks/months after the initial application so plan ahead with this in mind. The best time to apply is during the winter months as fewer people apply at this time.

Be honest in the application, no matter how brilliant you think your lies are, they do this for a living day in and day out and have heard them all before. I have seen people 'make up' jobs for their girl friends, the embassy will check up on this.

I have dealt with the British Embassy in Bangkok for 13 years now and they have always granted every application I have made for myself and my Thai family.

To save time / expense you can download the application forms form their website.

Hope this helps

She can apply to travel to UK as a visitor in her own right, she must show she has funds for the trip and ticket and have a reason to return to Thailand.(Job on return, college course booked, owner of property etc) That way she would need to show she has places to stay and can afford it (would need a healthy bank balance)Then you can travel on whatever passport you like.

If you want to help by being her sponsor, you will need to show British citizenship or residence in UK, you will need to demonstrate you have a place for you both to stay and to show an income to support you both. She would still need to convince the embassy she will return to Thailand. You can then show your funds to cover her ticket and travel costs.

Or your family over there could sponsor her as they are resident but would have to show the same.

Visitors visas generally dont take long but if it's her first time to travel she may be required to attend an interview and that may mean waiting a few weeks. It's not going to be so easy though but possible

Honesty is always the best policy.

She should apply for a visit visa, saying that she wishes to accompany you on your visit to the UK to meet your family.

You write a supporting letter outlining a history of your relationship and the reason for you both visiting the UK at this time. Include evidence that you are an Australian resident and have made frequent visits to you family in the UK in the past.

Reason to return is always a factor. If she has a job then a letter from her employer granting her a leave of absence. If she owns land then proof of this. Also, if the ECO is satisfied that your relationship is genuine, the reason for her visiting is genuine and that you are an Australian resident and do not intend to take up residency in the UK then they should also be satisfied that she will leave the UK when you do.

If you are funding any part of her trip then evidence that you can afford to do so, if she is funding some or all of it then evidence that she can afford to do so.

Evidence of her accommodation in the UK. If staying with your family then a letter from them inviting her to stay and a brief description of the accommodation available to show there is room for her. If they own the property then some proof of this, a mortgage statement, certified copy of the deeds or certified copy of the land registry entry. If they rent then a letter from their landlord confirming that she can stay and that there is room for her.

Most social/tourist visa applications are decided on the documents alone, without an interview, so make sure that you provide answers to any possible question the ECO may have.

Hi Nev

I am a pom living in Aus and in Sep this year I took my Thai girlfriend back to the UK for a 6 week visit to see my family we applied for a uk tourist visa for her at the UK visa center in Bangkok they gave her a 6 month tourist visa.

After taking the application and suporting docs into the visa center we got the reply within 3 days. It helps if they know you are also going to return to Aus so proof that you still have assets in Aus would help.

If I was you I would just apply for a tourist visa for her and say it was a holliday for you both, she would get a 6 month visa and having dual nationality if you happened to work while back in the UK it would not be a problem. If you say you are going back to work they may think you both have plans to stay threre. Up to you it would not be lying just not mentioning you plans to work.
