Jury duty in us

A bit off topic but I'll mention it. They have never allowed me to serve on a jury. I always fail one question. " Do you agree to uphold the law to the letter of the law?" My answer was always no. Sometimes common sense is in order and sometimes the law doesn't take that into consideration.

My Dad said he would always say something like. "Judge, I am old school and I am prejudiced and will vote against (Black, White, Asian, etc.)" whatever the case may be.  He was never called back.  Frankly I can think of similar answers that would be truthful and not liked by the courts.  I would probably say I am an engineer and I will not listen to what the lawyers try to say and will do my own analysis".  Lawyers don't like that.  They want to tell you what the laws of physics are
