I just need to check what the process is for getting married legally (other than not doing it)

I need a Statutory Declaration from the UK embassy

Get the staturatory Declaration translated

Out to Department of Consular Affairs

Legalisation department - pay and wait

Then I can go to my local amphur and register it there.

Do I need to register it with the UK embassy? Is it advisable to get the documents translated back into English as well for future use?

I have been married two years and have still yet to register it in the UK as it's not necessary.

Do not believe there is any requirement to register at UK Embassy but believe they do have a process to do so at a cost. Believe it has very limited use however but might negate the second part of this answer.

I had several translations/MFA registrations made of marriage certificate and used for US pension change; but do not believe my Embassy has a registration procedure.

As it is not that expensive I would advise doing so.

Any idea how long the embassy takes? I've been told 24hours but not sure if this is true or not.

Can I use another embassy?

I took my freedom of affirmation of marriage and confirmation of salary to British Embassy in Chiang Mai on tuesday and got it back notorised to me in 1 hour. Went straight to agent who had to send affirmation to Bangkok for translation and recieved this back today. Going to Amphur early next week to get married and immigration day after. Seems everything can be done in 3-4 days dependent on translation time.

You have to use your passport Embassy. Believe UK is overnight but not sure on that. That is an example you posted so you would change to "I am single" or some such statement.

"I wish to apply for an extension of temporary stay in the kingdom for another period of ........... days.

365 days.

Used to use "support Thai wife" as the extension was called but would use either marriage or live with wife now. Don't believe anyone will be picky on that point.

365 is ok ? I thought it had to be 90 days because it is my first application in Thailand.

Being my first "Application for extension of temporary stay in the kingdom" and first time dealing with Thai immigration i have been unsure of all precedures i need to follow.

You have made the process much clearer to me now THANKYOU

I am eternally grateful for all the advise and assistance you have given to me through these troubled times.

It is always 365/6 days but the count starts at your current entry into Thailand so the first time will usually be about 9 months in total (from application time).
