UP spray foam installers

Hello, I am currently building a home near Mukdahan, does anyone know of a company or person that does the spray on PU foam insulation for the roof, I am not confident the cement tiles will not leak during heavy rain and wind, when they installed the tiles, I could see daylight through most of them, please let me know if you can recommend someone or another way to seal the cement tiles.

Thank you

Cement tiles have been used here and stand up well to storms and rain.  But most homes will have a cement board ceiling below roof so any slight leakage will be absorbed by the insulation or at worst stain the cement board - no loss of ceiling as might be the case with plasterboard.

As for spray insulation have not seen used and reports seem to be a bit high priced for most usage.

We have normal grade cement sheet tiles on main roof that are now 40 years old and still no visible leakage - but in those days they were installed with corners removed to make a tighter fit which suspect is not done now to avoid dust.

I don't fully understand; you are standing on the cement floor inside the house, looking at the sky, and you can see daylight through the roof tiles?

We live outside Kuchinari on the Mukdahan road, you can come and have a look at our place, with cement tiles, and they don't leak.

There is a downloadable pdf from the cement tiles company, in Thai, showing how to lay the tiles. That said, they don't like to follow the instructions.

I have a contact who could maybe help.

We foam cealed our roof in the Pattaya house, for insulation. There is a German company that advertises in Pattaya, but forget their name (like Lombard or Lombok, Google spray foam insulation Thailand or Pattaya), it is expensive, but if you can see daylight through the tiles, you mustn't have insulation, so you probably need the spray foam.

Alanthebuilder could probably be correct about the foam spray, but I have noticed the Pattaya house seems cooler when we have visited. Probably subjective, and I wouldn't contradict a professional builder.

Also this is highly flammable with toxic smoke !
If you want to cool your home better use lagging On Top of the ceiling boards (none flammable and cheaper ).

One of the older companies that have a good rep is Lohr. They do PU foam countrywide. They sealed the roof in my old house 10 years ago and it is still leak free.

They are on facebook too.

Yeah, that's the one I used....I knew it started with an L. 555. But, mine was done a while ago too, so if you use them, you need new references as companies ethics change.

I have used "foam" on a previous house, I wouldn't use it again!

If you do use it you need to ventilate the roof space as the foam traps the heat, there is no natural breathing!

If you roof does leak after spraying foam it is a nightmare to find leak and repair!

Why not spend money correcting any issues with the roof, then put a good insulation on the ceiling.

Try not to spread misinformation.

Correctly constituted PU foam is not easily inflammable however it will burn if you get it hot enough as everything will..

While if you can get it burning it produces hydrogen cyanide, it produces less than wood, wool or many fabrics.

I suggest that if the fire is hot enough to ignite the PU foam you should not be near enough to it to be effected by the gases as you will probably be cooked by the heat

• The concentration of hydrogen cyanide generated in combustion of polyurethane foam is lower than that of surface decorative wooden building materials and wool (clothes etc) which are generally in living space.

Polyurethane foams release hydrogen cyanide in burning. However hydrogen cyanide is generated from not only polyurethane foams but all polymeric materials containing nitrogen as woolen insulation materials and surface decorative wooden building materials when they burn. The origin of hydrogen cyanide generation is not limited in polyurethane foams

You should get a better installer who uses quality materials and knows his job.

It burns very easy and gives off black smoke loads of , it's highly toxic and dumps won't allow people to even tip it .
All I'm saying is if can better not use .
I'm not name or shaming any company ( I could ) I'm just telling the truth .

Sorry to disagree .

Yes maybe the company that did the spray foam were bad I agree , but not going to say who .
If the right tiles are fitted normally there is no problem .
C Pac are a good roof tile .

Only in thailand could builders screw up a good product like PU foam spray. Nothing better for insulation if installed properly.

I've see some colour bond steel roofing sheets what has the same spray foam on the underneath , not cheap but very good to make the steel roof sheet insulated and none noisy .
I took a lighter and puff up in smoke black smoke and flames , the lady in the shop selling it was in a shock .
Colour Bond is an Aus product , sold in Thailand .

The PU foam you had installed may well have done that.

The foam that is installed under my roof, a German import for the material, does not. Even with a sliver of the material it does not catch fire unless I use my oxy/propane cutting torch and then it self extinguishes. When it is burning it does give off black smoke for the short time it burns, it certainly doesn't burn easily.

If your foam burned that easily it is not the same quality. You need to get the correct material.

Also if you saw ColourBond with insulation on it then it was not sprayed on it was stuck on and there are different grades that are available.

FWIW cost was 300baht per square metre for 25mm so not cheap but good.
