4 traffic cops transferred for allegedly manhandled a man in Klong Toey

BANGKOK: -- Four city traffic policemen were transferred to do their jobs at the operations centre of the Traffic Police Division after they were accused of manhandling a man in Klong Toey area as seen in video clip widely shared in the social media.

The four policemen later admitted that the incident stemmed from a misunderstanding as they thought the man, Mr Pamoke Rodtiang, was a foreigner and drunk.

Mr Pamoke, however, told the media that he merely took pictures of the four policemen while performing their duty with his smart phone. He said he did nothing wrong, but was roughly handled and handcuffed by the four policemen.

Mr Pamoke was on Tuesday invited to meet with Pol Maj-Gen Jirasan Kaewsaeng-aek, commander of the Traffic Police Division.

After a two-hour meeting in closed door, Pol Maj-Gen Jirasan emerged to tell the media in the presence of Pamoke that he had decided to transfer the four traffic policemen to the operations centre of the Traffic Police Division.

Which of course would have made the police officers actions acceptable?

John 11:35

They thought  Mr Pamoke was a for a foreigner and drunk !!

So that would have made it ok, kick the s..t out of foreigners but not Thais.

Note to self, do NOT attempt to take photos of Thai police if you don't

want your ass kicked and arrested, in Thailand filming a policeman

is a big no-no... put that in your tourism brochures TAT .......

....do by stealth...then post it..

4 cops sitting around doing their duty, photos a no no, wouldn't want that shown on the media.

Oh well I suppose the transfer is a kind of demotion being in air conditioned comfort.

Must have run out of spac at the 'inactive posts' room.

Neither of which is a crime.

Well not according to the law anyway.

What goes through the minds of the BIB is anyone's guess.

Transferred? Creative thinking to transfer the problem - NOT.

How about busting them down to the lowest rank, separate them and transfer each of them to other areas?
