All documents not in English must be accompanied by an English translation. Each translated document must contain:

  • confirmation from the translator that it is an accurate translation of the original document  
  • the date of the translation  
  • the translator's full name and signature  
  • the translator's contact details.

People have not submitted translations with visit applications without a problem, but the evidential requirements for a settlement visa are stricter. Especially now that they will be processed in the UK. If an ECO in Thailand needed something translated there are Thai staff members in post to do so; but will that be the same in the UK? I doubt it.

Documents should be originals or copies which have been certified as true copies by the issuer. As I understand it from Tony's post, these will be scanned by VFS and the originals returned.

There is very little flexibility on the documents used to show the financial requirement is met; see 3.4 Evidential flexibility in the financial requirement guidance. You should supply the listed documents relevant to how you are meeting the requirement, see also Immigration Rules Appendix FM-SE: family members specified evidence
