Would you rather I just wrote 'what a horrific crime'….I could, but we all know that. I just don't know why any hot woman in thailand travels alone….its not singapore. cardinalblue
Why are they so worried about their reputation that they put it about human right violation/crimes? a terrible crime has been committed but the Thai culture has other priorities... very hard to have any respect for a culture with this mindset... no tarnished image then no problem? Very disturbing... and yes I do question whether morality exists in thailand.... any one want to bet we will hear the usual "she was pretty and couldn't resist my sexual urges"..... lensta
" to be questioned by the Royal Thai Police deputy commissioner Pol Gen Srivara Rangsiphramanakul himself as the crime he committed greatly tarnished the reputation of the country" People like this believe that the crime that has been committed is "tarnishing the countries reputation" not the rape of a young woman. I would like to suggest that making statements like this does just as much damage to the reputation of the country because it shows exactly where their priorities lay and it certainly isn't with the victim. It would be nice if they even pretended to care about the victim.

The fact that there is a human victim here doesn't even get acknowledged. How about, "The crime he committed was an appalling and violent attack on a young woman, a disgusting violation of a guest who was visiting our country." Just shows their priorities, tourism 1st,countries reputation 2nd and victim a sad 3rd,maybe equal with taxi driver cos he was drunk. The police really need a western media man to vet their statements, they get it wrong so many times or is this just a reporters slant on it.Most people on this forum could word their statements in a bettef way, even if they don't mean it.Note to self, job opportunity. An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I have heard to many stories and also have personal experience with unscrupulous taxi drivers. My message was to 'take care of your friends'. That, in any other country in the world is for the driver if he is attacked. If it is being suggested that there should be one for the passengers then forget it. If they are intent enough to jam cell signals a panic button would not be hard to disable.
