Koh Kred

Featured Replies

I visited this place today. Took Chaopraya Express from Sphan Taksin to Nonthaburi, 13 Bt, then taxi to ferry pier in Pak Kred 90 Bt, the ferry 2 Bt, rented a bicycle 40 Bt.

Many dogs with mange is the first sight that greets you. The place was still mostly flooded now in the dry season. The wares for sale were same as Chatuchak but less choice. The potters village was poor and not much to see. Cycled around the place, really not exciting, normal plastic bags, bottles and garbage next to the track. Had a marginal lunch, very nice people who tolod me they only live on the upper floor in wet season, no toilet but could got to closest Wat. This was Friday so not weekend action.

Went back the same way.

Taxi driver back said he was ashamed to show this side of Thailand.

Worth a visit??

Only if you live in Bangkok and have explored all other options

Numeorus much cheaper buses to Pak Kred (=the main place, where a new bridge has also just been opened.

166 express from Vict. Monument

nrs. 32 (both red and AC0 and 51 from the Sanam Luang/banglamPhu

nr 505 (thus AC only) from Lumpini park-WTC-Phetburi road.

and many more, like 104 from Mochit skytrain end.

total cost: 14 baht for 2 redbusrides, plus ferry

Dk how its done now, due to new bridge, but taking the LOCAL ferry from PAk Kred to other side, near a temple, then local songhthaew to BANG BUA THONG was a nice ride some 2/3 years ago, via rural Thai countryside.

worth if only for the express boat
