Former foreign minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul

BANGKOK: -- Former foreign minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul is set to resign from Pheu Thai Party, a party source said on Thursday.

Surapong is set to submit his resignation to the party leader at the Pheu Thai headquarters and hold a press conference on Thursday.

Surapong was impeached by the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) late last month for malfeasance over the reissue of revoked passports to former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Following the impeachment, Surapong stands banned from politics for five years.

The former foreign minister was accused of illegally returning the two Thai passports to Thaksin, who has been living in exile. Thaksin was convicted for violating conflict of interest rules for allowing his wife to buy land from a state agency during his term as premier.

Sorry to see you go, close the door on your way out, bye.

Argh. Please put a warning in the title of threads with large disturbing photos.  It's too close to lunch time.

I sure his retirement package is a lot more handsome than he is.
