webfact
Red Bull heir's latest deadline to appear expires today By Teeranai Charuvastra, Staff Reporter An image posted to the Instagram account of Porpeer Salin Suyarnsettakorn on July 2, 2015, shows Vorayuth "Boss" Yoovidhya, whose grandfather co-founded energy drink company Red Bull, standing next to a black Porsche with customized license plates in London. (Photo via AP) BANGKOK — Thursday marks the day the millionaire heir to an energy drink empire wanted for a fatal car accident five years ago must turn himself to the authorities. Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya has disregarded all previous summonses since he crashed his Ferrari into a policeman’s motorcycle in Bangkok’s nightlife district in 2012. Despite media reports Vorayuth – whose grandfather started the Red Bull brand – was traveling openly in and out of Thailand, authorities never made any attempt to apprehend him, much to the public’s chagrin. darksidedog
So when he doesn't turn up today, will we finally see a warrant for his arrest issued AND served? If past proceedings are anything to go by, probably not. All this horrible dog now has to do is stay out of Thailand until the statute of limitations runs out in a few months and he will prove how useless and corrupt the Thai Judicial system is when you have money. Utterly disgraceful.

webfact
Public anticipate arraignment of Red Bull founder’s heir By The Nation BANGKOK: -- The Thai public is watching if 31-year-old Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya, whose late grandfather Chaleo Yoovidhya co-founded energy drink company Red Bull, would show up to meet with prosecutors Thursday over the 2012 hit-and-run death of a police officer in Bangkok. Public prosecutors had postponed the decision on whether to indict Vorayuth from March 30 to today because his lawyer claimed that Vorayuth – living a lavish lifestyle overseas according to foreign news reports – was pre-occupied in England. Office of the Attorney-General (OAG) deputy spokesman Prayut Phetkhun had said on March 30 that, if he wouldn't show up, they would consider issuing an arrest warrant for him. A press conference was expected to be held by OAG this afternoon at 2pm about this matter. Vorayuth was accused of hitting and killing 47-year-old Snr Sgt-Major Wichean Klinprasert with his Ferrari and dragging the body down a Bangkok street in a notorious early-morning accident in September 2012. Although the statute of limitations for the charges of speeding and reckless driving causing property damages had expired in 2013, there were two valid charges to prosecute him. They were reckless driving resulting in death, which had a 15-year statute of limitations, and refusing to stop to help a victim, whose five-year statute of limitations would end this September. The first offence carries a maximum jail term of 10 years while the latter carries a maximum jail term of six months. BigBadGeordie
I was just planning to head out for lunch, but after reading this news, think I will stay in and monitor the news following his arrival at the police station. On the other hand, I'm hungry, anyone think I have time for a 5 course lunch, wine and a little nap before he turns up?

If he wouldn't show up, they would consider, think about, contemplate, give thought to, reflect on, examine, appraise, study, mull over, ponder, deliberate over, cogitate about, chew over, meditate on, meditate over, ruminate over, turn over in one's mind, assess and evaluate issuing an arrest warrant for him, maybe." colinneil
He dosnt show get an international arrest warrant issued. If as the picture shows he is in the UK, the police there will uphold the warrant and lock him up. Then Thai authorities can extradite him, to face court here in Thailand. Sorry that is wishful thinking on my part, it will never happen because the spineless plonkers here are happy for him to be out of Thailand, so they dont have to do anything. CharlieK
I'm surprised the Thai government haven't asked the UK to extradite him. Not sure who is trying to save face but IMO face has been lost by the Thai government. They talk a big talk but in the end its business as usual. webfact
Still ‘preoccupied’, Vorayuth again a no-show By The Nation File photo: Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya at the time of his arrest. BANGKOK: -- Vorayuth “Boss” Yoovidhya, accused of running over and killing a police officer in 2012, has once again missed a deadline to meet prosecutors in Bangkok. With an incensed public keenly watching, the heir to the Red Bull fortune was due to face his accusers today. He has repeatedly failed to honour previous summonses and has yet to be charged with a crime. Sutthi Kittisupaporn, chief of the Department of Southern Bangkok Criminal Litigation, said the 31-year-old grandson of the late Chaleo Yoovidhya, who co-founded the company that bottles the energy drink Red Bull, instead had his lawyer request a further postponement on the grounds that he was “preoccupied” overseas. It was the same excuse Vorayuth offered for ignoring the previous summons on March 30, after which Office of the Attorney-General deputy spokesman Prayut Phetkhun declared that if he failed to show up today, an arrest warrant would be considered. Sutthi said today prosecutors would allow no more postponements and would this afternoon make a statement regarding a possible arrest warrant. Vorayuth was scheduled to face prosecutors over the 2012 hit-and-run death of police Senior Sgt-Major Wichean Klinprasert on Bangkok’s Sukhumvit Road. The prosecutors’ failure to act on March 30 further riled public opinion soon after news reports indicated that Vorayuth had all these years been living a lavish lifestyle overseas. Vorayuth was accused of hitting and killing 47-year-old police patrolman Wichean with his Ferrari early one morning in September 2012 and dragging the body for a considerable distance. The statutes of limitation have since expired on charges of speeding and reckless driving causing property damage, but he remains accused of reckless driving resulting in death, which has a 15-year statute of limitation, and refusing to stop to assist a victim, for which the statute ends in September. The first offence carries a maximum jail term of 10 years and the latter six months. pentap
The scum bag is a partner in the Red Bull company . He's not going to appear. He knows all the tricks far to well in avoiding having to appear. He can hop around the globe, avoiding being taken into custody and still receive millions from the Red Bull company. The Thai government should simply block all Red Bulls trading in Thailand as well as, seize his finances, properties etc. I'm British and disgusted the British Government did not extradite him! T. I. djayz
The whole thing is just a farce. Everybody knows he's never going to see the inside of a prison cell. Maybe if the general public boycotted a certain brand that might eventually persuade the parents to cut off the gravy train - without which he probably wouldn't survive too long.
