BANGKOK: -- Former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra has appealed the 17.6 billion baht back tax claim against him by the Revenue Department as the allowable 30-day appeal period ends today.

The tax claim notice was posted on his ex-wife Khunying Pojamarn Damapong’s Chan Song La residence on Charunsanitwong on March 28. The notice gave him 30 days to appeal the back tax claim, or else he has to pay the tax instantly if he does not appeal within the period.

Thaksin has designated a team of lawyers to appeal the tax claim on April 25, three days before the appeal period ended today.

Revenue Department director-general Prasong Poontaneat said Thaksin has appealed the tax claim on April 25.

He said the process after the appeal would go to the tax claim committee to look into his appeal to ensure fairness for the taxpayer.

Come on Thaksin. Prayut is going to have egg on his face if he hasn't got the money for the sub the country absolutely has to have!

Wonder if the good general will have to invoke 44 to get the tax money.  They did that to his sister.

sit at pool in my villa on my private island.

make sure the naked Russian maids clean the house properly.

three girl massage.

plan yacht orgy.

file tax appeal.

tell my private jet pilot we are flying to Monaco tomorrow.

I doubt it, as that list doesn't explain why he looks so despondant, in the OP-picture !

Seriously not a happy bunny, I'd say.

  • 2 weeks later...

Whenever I walk into a Terminal 21 Mall, I think about all the Thai Tax Money, which built them for the Thaksin Family. How do these people get away with it? Being rich and powerful and not paying taxes.

a 'team of lawyers'; now that is depressing

So best to buy a box of donuts, a box of pork dumplings and several types of gwitayu, some pork satay sticks and sticky rive and a few cans of Singha for the handout, but this time guys be much more selective who you give the 'handouts' to and increase the cash in each handout to at least 100M Baht.

Those of us who got an education at school, knows exactly what is going on here and in a civilized country, those pushing the demand would end up where they really belong. They will one day.

Is that the point? No.

He didn't pay tax and it's catching up with him, som nam na.

And does anyone imagine that the present governing hierarchy along with their grovelling mandarins pay tax on their ill-gotten gains?

P.S.

So whats new look back over the years and start to count the super rich generals who did the same, but did not start a successful business before entering politics unlike some who did then sold the business at a profit.

Its one law for one and another law for another.

just too many rich who took it from the poor around here and no Robin Hood to save them

Then i have bad news for you...

And I sincerely hope he never returns because he would quickly attempt to / maybe would do massive destruction to this wonderful country aided by his naive and ruthless mob. And not in any attempt to create a better quality of life for the lower echalons of Thailand nor to take the country forward.

And quite possibly just generate another coup.

No need for another coup now the current junta are cemented into power. Just 6 months to allow the situation to calm down, anyone?

But why would you be against a return to face justice? Surely you would welcome a fair, transparent trial with all parties political or otherwise, named shamed and held to account? Let's get the world media in there, the good people must have nothing to worry about?

different set of rules and laws  apply to people on that level. You or I would get a harsh sentence for stealing a slice of pizza while ex-presidents and ousted leaders , after stealing billions, get help transferring the money overseas, get escorted out of their country and welcomed at another with total impunity
