These people have committed rape of minors.  They should be in prison, not out on bail.

What happened to the assumption of innocence until proven guilty?

Thailand might be jumping to conclusions without a trail....

While I do not think that the accused are innocent I still want to see them before a Judge first.

If we are not following and demand such proceedings than we are not one bit better ...

Have to get the important and connected people out of the way first, then get the warrants and round up the little people and fall guys.

I don't know if any one reading thaivisa now remembers a case like this in about 1982 or so. One of the higher up ministers in the cabinet was caught with a thirteen year old girl in a hotel.Come to find out a girl of 17 years old (that this minister had been scxewxng since she was 12 years old ) had on orders from this minister brought this 13 year old to the hotel. In the lone run only the 17 year old was prosecuted and went to jail for bring the 13 year old to the hotel. The minister had to go to the temple to make atonement.LOS is so deep in corruption from the top down that rarely will you see a government offical in jail that is in favor with what ever PM is in power at that time.

there would be so many suspects arrested at the top level that the bureaucratic work of Mae Hong Son would face disruption.

It's going to be a big problem for DSI - where is it going to find a cell big enough to accommodate all the suspects who will likely commit mass suicide?

Arrest warrants for cops sought in child sex scandal
By The Nation

Mae Hong Son police applied for arrest warrants for six police officers under the Kong Koy precinct in Mae Sariang district over their alleged involvement in the gang rape of a minor, in a case linked to the province’s child prostitution scandal.

Muang Mae Hong Son police investigator Lt-Colonel Worathan Kruachanta went to the provincial court at 10.30am on Monday to apply for the arrest warrant after an attempt to get warrants for three of the officers on Sunday failed.

The latest application was overseen by Muang Mae Hong Son superintendent Colonel Satasak Pimontip.

A police source revealed two women accused of procuring girls aged under 18 into forced prostitution had been interrogated and were sent to Bangkok on Sunday to face legal action by the Anti-Human Trafficking Division (AHTD).

The AHTD said if the women implicated state official in the scandal, arrest warrants would be issued as per the instruction of deputy national police commissioner General Srivara Ransibrahmanakul.

Someone needs to make a wiki of all high profile cases and their outcomes (or lack thereof). Too many of these just get swept away by newer, outrageous cases and there's no ongoing tally of how many (read: few) are actually resolved. A wiki with a timeline and color coded current status would be an interesting sight to see.

The alleged fact that six local policemen were involved (though not specified exactly how) in the gang rape of one young girl (as part of an effort to force her into prostitution) tells you there was/is some real twisted/sick stuff going on up there (and probably elsewhere here too).

Sometimes there's one rotten apple in the bunch. In this case, though, it sounds as though the whole barrel is rotten.

They won't go to prison. Well, maybe the teacher, but no one else.

Better chance of the kids getting locked up on defamation charges.

The fact that the children hear are referred to as "buying the services of child |prostitutes" and the dignity of the bureaucratic work of Mae Hong Son would face disruption and that they can put the child prostitutes in goal; puts a tremendous slant on the press report in favour of the people involved and the people investigating.

So how did this get legs? The General's platform is to quash this type of behaviour?

The police are not safe in some cases ( Boss's unfortunate car crash); but are really safe if you are thought to matter.

Sad reflection.

Time will be needed to "convince" witnesses not to come forward and to round up the usual suspects.

Given time the suspect can then do one of two things to help his case.#1 pay off the witnesses or injured party.#2 If the payment method does not work then the suspect may then see that they "disappear".

The PM said that every culprit will be prosecuted, when is that going to happen????

Too many big names involved, it will just be another massive cover up.

They will close thr back way to Thailand from Cambodia on the  same day when Hell freezes over and by the looks of things that will be impeded by all the sinners that will be thrown to the fire..

Clearly these people always assumed that because of their position they would never be prosecuted. The cops don't know what to do, because every person they arrest will increase the likelihood of them being implicated when someone starts to sing.

The provincial goverments in this country are incapable of regulating themselves, like little boys in a candy store they "pig" out until an adult stops them,,,,,,,but in this case who or what is the adult? The people expected to protect the innocent are the main perp's!!!!!  :post-4641-1156693976::wai:
