BANGKOK: -- The National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA)'s committee on media reform will tomorrow consider removing the proposed licensing requirement for all media professionals from its draft media regulation bill due to strong opposition from practitioners and concerns that such a requirement could lead to more problems, according to committee chairman ACM Kanit Suwannet.

However, the proposed 15-person national media council will still include two representatives from the government to ensure smooth cooperation between the public and private sector on media affairs, he said.

Let me guess - two military generals or staff appointed by Prayut whose mere presence might intimidate the entire council to "shape" cooperation between the public and private sector on media affairs. In such a case don't expect the council to operate democratically, ie., one person-one vote.
