BANGKOK, 1 May 2017 (NNT) – Thailand and Bahrain this week signed three memoranda of understanding on agriculture, trade, and medical cooperation.

In his national televised address on Friday, Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha said that earlier this week he led his cabinet ministers to the Kingdom of Bahrain at the invitation of Bahraini Prime Minister, Prince Khalifa Bin Salman Al Khalifa.

Thailand and Bahrain are celebrating the 40th anniversary of their diplomatic relations this year.

Gen Prayut said he was granted an audience with His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa who expressed his condolences over the passing of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand, and offered his congratulations to His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun on succeeding his late father.

During his visit, Gen Prayut held discussions with his counterpart on several matters in regard to Bahrain’s “Economic Vision 2030,” “Thailand 4.0” policy, trade and investment cooperation, tourism, human security, anti-terrorism, and economic partnership.

The two premiers also witness the signing of three memoranda of understanding on agricultural cooperation, the prevention of double taxation and tax evasion, and the promotion of cooperation between Thai and Bahraini medical experts.

Lastly, Gen Prayut expressed his gratitude to Bahrain for an overwhelming welcome and generosity, saying Thailand wishes to reciprocate the kindness.

And an exchange of catchy phrases was made. How enlightening.

Thailand sent their crown jewel the PM

Good to see that the International Relations with an important, influential and thought leading Arab State are improving by signing these MoU's.
Agriculture is almost non-existent in Bahrain, and I did not know that there is a Medical teaching facility of note, so indeed a great scope for cooperation: increased export of vegetables, fish and chicken; and maybe more incoming Medical Tourism where Thailand has been a destination of choice for quite a few Arab customers..

The No double taxation agreement is of course of note, see table below.
I suppose the text of the MoU concerning avoidance of taxes would be even more interesting.

The Personal Income Tax Rate in Bahrain stands at 0 percent.

Bahrain Taxes Last       Highest
Corporate Tax Rate 0.00         0.00
Personal Income Tax Rate.  0.00         0.00
