very quick visa extension!

Featured Replies

Hi to everyone out there, first ever topic. I think I just broke the world record for a visa extension!  took me exactly 3 minutes and 45 seconds from the moment I went into the immigration office:  prommenade C.M.  until I left. I do admit I did use a visa service☺☺ All I had to do is provide evidence of funds in a  Thai bank account,  (800,000)  baht, my rental agreement, TM  30 slip, bank letter which cost me 100 baht confirming bank account and I also provided a bank statement for the last 4 months also 100 baht, although it is not really needed, I just did it to be on the safe side. They did everything for me I  just had to turn up and wait for a few minutes. So quick and easy. For anyone that wants to know it costs 7,500 baht for a normal 1 year extension based on retirement and if you want a multi entry extension it's another 4,800 on top so 12,300 altogether.  So it's up to everyone out there to make up their own minds if it's worth it or not. For me I think it's totally worth it, hassle free and so quick.

So you do know it is only 1900 bht or i think 3800 bht for multi

Thats what you get if you are prepared to pay for it

So which visa service will you be recommending with your first ever post?

In addition to earlier posters; If you're renting why the need for a TM 30 slip? Isn't that between imm & your landlord?

It becomes your responsibility when you need to deal with immigration and it hasn't been done.

I'll believe that when I see or hear a first-hand account from someone who was otherwise legal.

Nothing illegal anout what the op did at all. He proved funds and everything else just got an agent to do the extension. As for tm 30 i have done this myself on a good few occasions accepted by immigration no problems.

I also get my Retirement Extension from Chiang Mai Immigration and have done for the last 15 years.

Last October they refused to process the extension because the house owner had not submitted a TM30.

They said it was my responsibility to get the form submitted, and as the owner had married an American and moved to the USA it became a major headache.

Everything else was in order, just the TM30 missing.

Even a statement from a Government employee that I lived at that address was not accepted.

How was that resolved and what were the penalties to you?

Or you can do it for 1900 baht, 3800 for multi re-entry.

And spend your savings,6600baht, in the ghost mall  1507625.GIF

Being an ex-government employee who used to deal with similar matters I 'faked' a couple of documents and got away with it.

Don't think I can do it again this year.

Been in touch with the house owner who phoned CM immigration and the head office in Bangkok and got the reply that she should report any arrival at the house directly to CM immigration.

The fact that she was in the US made no difference. She was not amused.

Still trying to sort out something with her son in Bangkok and her ex-husband somewhere in Thailand.

I did a number of them (retirement visa/extensions) at CW.

Never that fast, but it was because of waiting in queue for my number to e called.

When you know what they want to see it doesn't take long.

Just have the correct documents ready and it goes  quickly.

No need for an agent especially your 2nd or 3rd time doing the process.

After a while it becomes  routine, you really don't need an agent to do it.

Per what has been reported here, In Chaing Mai (CM) they have engineered extra-long queues, to "encourage" agent-use, which amounts to a 'fee' (6600 Baht, per the OP's report) being split between the agent and the folks who put you in front of all those who arrived at 4 or 5 AM, and stood in line for a queue-number.

CW (Bangkok) is a different story.  If you do it "by the book" from the start, you may continue that.  But, if you used an agent previously, you may be told to "use the agent again" (keep the 'extra fees flowing') or you could be forced to start the process over.

Me. My extension stamp was delayed until I personally had gone and got my rental agent to come down to immigration and furthermore to promise to report my arrival within 24 hours every single time I returned to my condo from abroad. (This assumed I returned directly to my condo and not anywhere else in Thailand every time I entered Thailand's borders.)
