DON'T INSOLE-T US! Man photo shames ‘disrespectful’ tourist for putting her bare feet on a headrest during a ferry trip

This female traveller was accused of disrespectful behaviour for putting her bare feet on a headrest during a ferry ride in Thailand

A THAI local has slammed a female tourist for ignoring his country’s etiquette after she was caught with her bare feet resting on the headrest of a ferry seat.

Kunakorn Jailbanjerd posted a picture of the incident to his Facebook page, calling for travellers to “be more respectful”.

He captioned the image: “People should be more respectful when they are visitors to other people’s countries.”

How do they expect westerners who most have no respect for other people or their own culture, to show respect for other people`s culture?

Anti social behaviour is rampant in Farangland. Impossible to name and shame them, because to them it`s just more likes on facebook. One good reason I got out of Farangland where the societies have gone to pot.

A topic of a similar nature a few weeks back had the same thing on a bus, though here there is no one in front of her and no comment about the feet being stinky.

While I agree about having manners, I would suspect this girl has no idea that she is doing anything wrong.

I had been here some time before I knew about the feet thing.

I am wondering how many people can post pictures or news items of Thais doing disrespectful things, being Thai and in Thailand doesn't mean you can just do what you like............lead by example and treat your tourist visitor (who enrich Thailand with trillions) with the respect they deserve (in most cases)

How can she have no idea she is doing anything wrong? I wouldn`t even do this in my own country, England. This is public seating, not the back of a sofa in her living room.

As I said; it boils down to ignorance and not being taught how to behave respectfully in public places. Sorry, there can be no excuses for this type of behaviour. The woman simply doesn`t care, end of story.

I think a public flogging might in order for this young lady.

After all, respect is measured by the image you portray. It has nothing to do with your actions outside of public view.

If that would turn you on, then so be it.

You  nailed  it. This is simply an example of an ignorant  person.  She'd  display  the same  slug-like  scrubber behaviour  anywhere  she  went.

It is quite respectful to use under age girls as prostitutes, run over policemen, bribe the entire justice??system, skip the country, but keep your feet hidden, fmg.

This sounds  like  the sort  of  "logic"  irrelevance  a child  would  use.   It also suggests  you believe  in  the possibility that  this farang scrubber  is  a superior  being  from a sleaze-free  land with  no sin, and might be justified by her superior background to do anything she pleases among the natives?

Or, you could infer that the word 'respect' has a multitude of definitions. And you can simply cherry pick when you choose to ignore one massively more abhorrent thing over something that's trivial in comparison.

You've discovered the secret of logic as applied by the rich, powerful and privileged to perpetuate their exploitation of the poor in countries with delusions if democracy. Congratulations.  The only way is up from here.

Yes, that makes perfect sense.

Also she gives other passengers a scenery view of her canyon which is very un appropriate....somehow you guys don't seem to notice that

You've reminded me of one of the great turning points of argument about pornigraphy and art. I say "pornigraphy" because I don't believe in the existence of pornography. Evil only exists in the eye of the beholder.

yeah give it a <deleted> rest.  she probably is unaware of the protocol and this is not unusual for a traveller.

Looking at the amount of leg room in that seating area, I don't blame her.

Ah, Yes, the weekends here so, time to whip up OUTRAGE – be outraged about these disrespectable tourist = westerner = farang and what they do. Has it been a week since  “beg packers”  … sure ok so time to hit it again. Here we go.

Que up TV posters to piously proclaim ‘they are backpackers’, different and distinct from us, we the wise expat. We are different and the Thais understand this ------right -----they also say  the biggest lies in Thailand are the ones Expats tell themselves

Must suck being Thai if you hate Farang people. Maybe we should all put our feet up to show some solidarity. I used to have a bit more sympathy for the Thais but it isn't as if they respect anybody around them or various cultures themselves.

All he had to do was ask her to put her feet down.
