Direct US Flights from Thailand.
Thai Airways International has no plans to resume direct flights to the United States, despite the US upgrading Thailand’s air safety rating this year to permit them, CEO Chai Eamsiri said on Wednesday I never thought it would actually happen. Not worth the cost of upgrading it's fleet. Also, way too much competion even from CNX (Korean, EVA, China and Starlux have US flights with one stop). Scoot, the Singoapor Airlines, budget carrier flies directly to SIN and then onto the US. -

Vietnam thought it had a deal on its US tariff rate. Then Trump stepped in.
The hivemind don't know what to do about Trump being his own man. They are so used to loving money motivated immoral leaders just looking to feather their own and their families nest that they are dumbstruck when an honest patriot comes along and works for Americans interest. Hilarious to see their silly reactions and venting. -

Health Thai Activist Proposes Sex Ban for Under-22s to Tackle HIV Surge
Thanks for the "blast from the past". Where I lived in Lanna many years ago. there was a local Cabbages & Condoms Restaurant and Resort on Route 118 (Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai) just south of Wiang Pa Pao. It was very popular with coach parties taking lunch on their way to the Golden Triangle and the Doi Tung Royal Villa & Mountain Gardens. I regularly ate there, the food was delicious and the staff very welcoming. Since Covid, I believe the resorts facilities have been refurbished. -

Report Social Media Star’s Licence Suspended Over Careless Driving Video
Picture courtesy of Inquirer In a move stirring lively debate, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) has suspended the driving licence of popular social media personality Cherry White. The action comes after a video showing Cherry driving in a concerning manner went viral, drawing intense scrutiny from both the public and regulatory bodies. Cherry White, known for her substantial online following, was captured driving with one leg casually reclined on the driver's seat. This apparent disregard for safe driving practices has sparked widespread condemnation and prompted the LTO to act, fearing the potential influence such behaviour might have on her audience. Acting Assistant Secretary and LTO chief Greg Pua explained the decision in a statement on Friday: “The video could lead to road accidents, endangering not only her life but also the lives of other road users.” As a consequence, Cherry’s licence has been suspended for 90 days. Pua highlighted the potential dangers of the video being interpreted as endorsing unsafe driving habits. “The information we received indicated that this personality has a strong following on social media, and the video is dangerous since it may give the impression that such driving is acceptable,” he remarked. The LTO has initiated an investigation, starting with a show-cause order against Cherry. They’ve requested her to explain why she should not face further penalties for being deemed an “Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle,” in accordance with Section 27(a) of the Republic Act 4136, which addresses reckless driving. Cherry has been instructed to surrender her driver’s licence and appear at the LTO Central Office in Quezon City. The vehicle featured in the viral video is currently flagged in the LTO system while the enquiry unfolds. This incident underscores the broader issue of social media influence on public behaviour, particularly concerning safety practices. In an age where influencers hold significant sway, this case serves as a vivid reminder of the responsibility that comes with such a platform. The LTO’s decisive action reflects its commitment to promoting road safety and curbing dangerous driving behaviours that could result from such widely viewed content. As the investigation continues, it remains to be seen what the full repercussions for Cherry White will be, but the message is clear: safety remains paramount on the roads. This development has become a talking point across various communities, emphasising the crucial balance between online popularity and real-world responsibility.
