webfact
Ex-Mae Hong Song governor cleared of child sex ring allegations, say police By The Nation Ex-Mae Hong Song Governor Suebsak Iamwichan BANGKOK: -- Ex-Mae Hong Song Governor Suebsak Iamwichan has been cleared of accusations that he bought sexual services from a minor involved in the province's forced prostitution ring, deputy national police chief Srivara Ransibrahmanakul said on Thursday. He said police had evidence that local politicians under Tambon Ban Mai Administrative Organisation from Nonthaburi's Bang Yai district had stayed at the Mae Hong Son's resort during the time of the alleged offence. Investigators would continue their probe and gather evidence before applying for arrest warrants. Investigators had to interview more than 40 witnesses, he said. Srivara said many people were involved in the offence but declined to give details of their positions. He said Seubsak and other policemen were cleared of the offence, although a probe for negligence in allowing the offences to occur was another matter to be dealt with by administrative officials. Last week, Provincial Police Region 5 deputy chief Pol Maj-General Panudech Boonreung claimed that victims in the prostitution ring had identified five Ban Mai politicians who allegedly bought sex from them on September 22 last year. Panudech also claimed one of the five might have also drunkenly claimed to be then governor Suebsak. Suebsak, who has denied involvement in the child-sex ring, was transferred to an inactive post in Bangkok until the investigation was completed. The results of a fact-finding committee's probe against Suebsak had been expected to be reported to the Interior Minister and the ministry permanent secretary by Friday, according to Interior Ministry deputy permanent secretary Prayoon Rattanasenee. Im sure they will be sorry for hurting the reputation of fine folks. If their parents are seen riding new motobikes, its just a coincidence. This could be a double edged sword. Under aged sex workers, known as jail bait, participating in sexual services for payments, and with assistance from family, agents and pimps, try to extort money from those who have used or use their services (blackmail). And if those who used their services deny having participated then the families or agents of these girls take the matter to the authorities hoping to gain compensation. Similar happened with many celebrities in the UK. Those in high or prominent positions become easy targets, whereas the law is always going to be on the side of the families concerned with in most cases anonymity assured. They are in a no lose situation. It`s a well organised setup, the corrupt and the abusers being brought down by another corrupt gang of abusers. It`s a sick form of perverted honey trap and blackmail perpetrated by criminal gangs, sweet poetic justice who consider the sexual abuse of children is OK if can get away with it. I think you are not living in the real world or you don't know much about Thailand and Thai officials........ Especially Thai MEN officials.... You will never in a million years convince anybody who KNOW corrupt Thai officials, That any part of what you profess is near to the facts..... I've got 30 years experience with Thailand and 2 corrupt Thai Police in my wife's family........... No double edge sword here........ Thai Police, and especially the 'upper crust' Police are almost impossible to be found guilty, even when they ARE........

Sorry; you are the one living in a make believe world. Even if the wrong doings of a policeman or high ranking official is being covered up, palms will still have to be greased in order to help the smooth running of the process. There are people along the line who will have to be paid out behind the scenes. In the case of the OP, probably the gangs and families involved to brush this under the carpet and not persist with the publicity with gagging orders, including other high ups involved in the cover ups. Then to save face and the credibility of the authorities involved, the names exposed will either be forced to resign with imposed gagging orders or moved to undisclosed locations in the hope they`ll soon be forgotten. Sometimes an unlucky official maybe sent down as a scapegoat to appease the press and public to protect the others involved. Whatever, brown envelopes will have to be passed around, and there will be those cashing in on this. It`s not as cut and dry and you think it is.
